Apple Already Sold Out of Initial White iPad mini Pre-Order Stock





At 3 a.m. Eastern / 12 a.m. Pacific today, Apple began taking pre-orders for the 4-th generation iPad and iPad mini. As it was noted on the forums, a starter supply of white iPad mini in the United States was quickly sold out. Within the first 17 minutes, the delivery time for the white iPad mini stretched up to 2 weeks. Shipping black iPad mini Wi-Fi is available on 2 November.

Apple announces Q4 2012 earnings



Yesterday, during the earnings call, Apple reported record fourth quarter profits that rose nearly 25% to $8.2 billion. The quarterly revenue amounted $36.0 billion for the three-month period ending ended September 29, 2012. Gross margin was 40.0 percent compared to 40.3 percent in the year-ago quarter. International sales accounted for 60 percent of the quarter’s revenue.

Apple Posted ‘Samsung Did Not Copy iPad Design’ Statement On Its UK Site



As ordered by a UK court, Apple posted a link with the text "Samsung / Apple UK judgment" on its U.K. website. The notice acknowledges that Samsung’s Galaxy Tab devices had not infringed on the design of iPad. In the beginning of the notice Apple said:

Tim Cook: iPad Mini Priced “Aggressively”



Yesterday Apple hold a fourth quarter earnings call where CEO Tim Cook explained the company's pricing philosophy for the iPad mini.

When we set out to build it, we didn't set out to build a small, cheap tablet. We set out to build a smaller iPad that offered the full iPad experience. The difference between us and the competition is profound. 35% larger screen than 7" tablets. 2 great cameras. Fastest communications with dual bank Wi-Fi. Fit and finish of our precision enclosure is breathtaking when held in your hands. That's what we've done, the iPad mini has higher costs and gross margin is significantly below our corporate average. Height of the cost curve, but we want to make a large number and we're going to work to try to get down the cost curve and get more efficient with manufacturing as we've done with our other products.

Touchscreen Production Issues Contributed To iPad Mini Pricing
