Meet Another Possible Apple Watch Rival: Microsoft Band

More than a month after Apple, Microsoft has today officially announced its smartwatch. The new wearable device is called Microsoft Band and I must admit it is totally different from the Apple Watch and other market rivals. It should be noted, however, that it is very difficult to call the new gadget a smartwatch; because of its design and the price tag of $199, it is rather a fitness tracker.

Apple CEO Tim Cook Is 'Proud to Be Gay'

In a letter written for Bloomberg Businessweek, Tim Cook declared his support for human equality and for the first time publicly admitted that he's gay. I must say, this was quite a surprising step as earlier Apple CEO was keeping his personal life away from public. According to the letter, Cook decided to tell about his sexuality to "bring comfort to anyone who feels alone" as well as to "inspire people to insist on their equality."

Several days ago, I told you about OS X Yosemite adoption rate, which at that time was 12.8%. Today I'd like to talk about Apple's iOS 8 and its adoption rate.

Apple's Vice President Greg Joswiak Apologizes for iOS 8.0.1 Bug

Greg Joswiak, Apple's VP of iPhone marketing, earlier today had an interview with Re/code reporters Ina Fried and Walt Mossberg. During this interview, Apple representative apologized for the iOS 8.0.1 bug that made it impossible for many iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users to access Touch ID and cellular service on their smartphones. Joswiak claimed that a problem with iOS 8.0.1 was caused by the software distribution and not by the flaw in the operating system as it was believed earlier. Anyway, it was a terrible mistake, so I guess the guys from Cupertino should find out whose fault was that.

Net Cost of iPad Air 2 Components Is $275 - IHS Experts

A research firm called IHC has recently torn down Apple's new iPad Air 2 to find out how much money the guys from Cupertino spend on the hardware for their flagship tablet. As usual, the net cost of components is much lower than the actual price of the device, however, we should not forget that this cost does not include the price of assembly, transportation costs etc. Anyway, the experts claim that Apple spends about $275 on the 16GB version of the iPad Air 2, which is one dollar more than the net price of the last-year iPad Air. Keep in mind that this is the basic model; all the other are more expensive to assemble.
