Apple Acquires Smartphone AI Development Firm Called Perceptio

Following the acquisition of a firm called VocalIQ, Apple has purchased another startup - Perceptio. This company is working on a technology that allows to use artificial intelligence on portable devices like smartphones or tablets, but without the need to utilize large amounts of user’s information and store it in the cloud. The report about Apple’s latest acquisition comes from Bloomberg, which is a very reliable source.

Apple spokesperson has already confirmed the latest purchase, however, refused to give any further details on the deal. As usual, Apple lets us know about the issue using a standard statement:

Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans.

Perceptio was founded by two enthusiasts, Zac Stone and Nicolas Pinto. The main aim of the firm was the development of an advanced and more efficient technology allowing to use artificial intelligence in smartphones and other small portable devices.

Two latest acquisitions prove that Apple is seriously planning to improve its virtual assistant Siri. I guess that soon we’ll see first results in this field.
