Apple Is Seeking To Add Samsung Galaxy S4 To Patent Suit In U.S.

According to a report from FOSS Patents, Apple is seeking to add Samsung's Galaxy S4 flagship smartphone to an ongoing patent lawsuit against Samsung in the United States.

Judge Lucy Koh has already ordered Samsung and Apple to narrow their case, which is scheduled to go to trial in March next year. Each side will be required to limit their accused products to ten (per side). At the current stage the companies have pared their lists to 22 products each.

The filings reveal a major new disagreement: Apple has analyzed the Galaxy S4, Samsung's new top-selling product, and "has concluded that it is an infringing device and accordingly intends to move for leave to add the Galaxy S4 as an infringing product

The two companies are continuing to disagree about what constitutes a separate product, with Samsung saying that each carrier version of its mobile devices should count as a single product, seeking to change the balance by taking advantage of its considerably larger number of devices compared with Apple’s lineup.
