Apple to Terminate iTunes Music Downloads in 2-4 Years… Or Not?

According to the report that appeared online on Wednesday, Apple plans to terminate iTunes music downloads within the next 2-4 years. The reason for termination of digital music downloads most likely connected with weak music sales over the last couple of year and growing popularity of streaming music services like Apple Music in many countries. In fact, music industry experts claim that by 2020, the revenue from Apple Music may be 10 times larger than the revenue from iTunes music downloads.

Apple allegedly has an aggressive plan to "terminate" music downloads from iTunes within two years, reports Digital Music News citing sources with "close and active business relationships" with Apple.

Even though the rumor described above looks quite plausible, Apple representative Tom Neumayr has told Recode it is "not true," so I guess all those who still prefer downloading music rather than streaming it should not worry. Well, at least now.
