According to [2] DigiTimes, Apple will ramp up production of its new 15-inch MacBook Pro in April, but the mass production of 13.3-inch model will not start until June. The April timing corresponds with reports [3] about new Intel Bridge processors that could be used in the new MacBook Pros.

Sources from the supply chain have also said that Apple’s orders for the 13.3-inch Mac Book Pro are far higher that orders for the 15-inch model, showing that Apple places more focus on the 13.3-inch notebook market segment.

DigiTimes doesn’t offer any explanation for the different production dates between 15-inch and 13-inch models. It appears that the timetable is related to Intel chip availability as it was reported that low power Intel CPUs will not be ready until June. Apple has typically used low power Intel’s processors in the MacBook Air line, but it was rumored [4] that MacBook Pros will adopt a thinner and more Air-like design and will not include optical drive.
