Remote Windows on iPhone

Citrix is porting XenApp to the iPhone. XenApp is a remote Windows application that is presently available for Mac, Windows and some mobile platforms. XenApp allows users to remotely log into their corporate networks to access their Windows applications.

The functionality seems similar to existing VNC clients for the iPhone, but Citrix's XenApp apparently transmits window display information rather than the raw graphics (wikipedia link). This is much better than VNC over network connections such as 3G and WiFi.

iPhone + rocket

Michael Koppelman is an iPhone developer and model rocket enthusiast. He decided that combining his two hobbies together would be a good idea. He created an app that constantly polled the iPhone’s GPS and accelerometers, logging them to a file and then transmitting the data from the GPS over the web so that the unit could be located if it became lost.

Here is a 3D plat with data from GPS:

New autocorrection toggle [Cydia]

Many users want to turn iPhone's autocorrection off. There is a good solution we wrote about: Auto-correction - solution to turn it off. The bad thing is that it works only with english keyboard. If you want to disable autocorrection for Russian, Spanish, German or some other keyboard try ACtoggle.

Unfortunately, it didn't work for my russian keyboard - after turning off KB-autocorrect russian keyboard just disappeared. Hopefully this will be fixed in future versions.

Bluetooth hack

There is a project (iphonebluetooth.tk) to unlock the iphone bluetooth. The developers got some interesting progress. They were able to search and find two other bluetooth devices (a sonyericsson phone and an hackintosh) from the iPhone, and transfer some data. Here are several interesting screenshots:

Virtual reality from Apple

The US Patent Office today published two Apple patent filings that reveal the company having researched a unique head-tracking display technology designed to replicate the theater experience. A head-mounted display with head-tracking technology intended to reduce viewer fatigue and disorientation by simulating a theater or other viewing environment.
