The sales of the long-awaited Apple Watch will start on April 24th. Ahead of this date, more and more rumors appear on the Internet, which deal with this smartwatch, its features, prices and the buying process itself.
It is Sunday today, which means it is high time I told you about the most interesting posts of the past seven days. Let’s take a look at them right now.
Earlier this week, rumors appeared on the Internet suggesting that the TaiG Jailbreak Team would release a jailbreak for iOS 8.2 within few days. These rumors surfaced on the Internet ahead of Mobile Security Summit (MSS), which was held in Beijing, China on March 27th and where the hackers discussed the possibility to create a platform for communication among world’s most prominent jailbreak developers.
Creating anti-Apple ads has for a long time been the priority of Samsung and Microsoft. However, what this companies have never done is comparing the guys from Cupertino and their iOS to Nazis and their regime.
One Chinese company called LeTV has recently released a poster showing Apple in the form of Nazis. This poster has been created as a part of the promo campaign for the company’s upcoming Android device. The offensive image, which has been first spotted on Weibo, is available below, take a look.
According to what Apple CEO Tim Cook has recently revealed to Fortune reporters, the company is currently considering the possibility of naming its would-be “spaceship” Campus 2 after Apple’s co-founder Steve Jobs. The final decision is yet to be made and will depend on the wishes of family, friends and employees, however, Cook is almost sure they will agree to honor Jobs in such a way. In case you don’t know, the name “Apple Campus 2”, which currently used by reporters, is only an internal designation that may be altered in future.
About two weeks ago, first rumors about Apple’s plans to open several separate Apple Watch stores in Europe and Asia appeared on the Internet. Earlier this week, the guys from Cupertino officially confirmed these sketchy rumors by updating their official website with the addresses of three brand new stores located in the U.K, France and Japan. All of these small shops will be located in large department stores and will sell Apple’s smartwatches only.
According to the latest rumors shared by reliable insiders, the in-store Apple Watch inventory in the USA will be heavily constrained at launch. This means many smartwatch models will not be available for purchase in April. That is why I believe that pre-ordering the long-anticipated wearable device is the best possible option for all those who plan to purchase it in the near future. Well, at least in the United States.
Apple has just begun releasing selected third-party Apple Watch apps on the App Store. These apps include Twitter, Evernote, Things, Target, Dark Sky, The Wall Street Journal and many other applications from non-Apple developers. While the wearable device is expected to hit the store shelves only on April 24th, customers will get an exclusive opportunity to take a look at the smartwatch and try it on at the local Apple Stores starting from April 10th. They will also get a chance to pre-order the tiny gadget. However, to decide whether they actually need the Apple Watch, people should be able to look at different apps created for it.
As you already know, Apple is reportedly working on a 4-inch iPhone 6C, which will be released alongside the 4.7-inch iPhone 6s and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6s Plus later this year. According to the most-recent rumors, the handset may be equipped with a 20-nanometer A8 processor manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company. The sources also claim that the iPhone 6C will get a price tag of $400-500, which is lower than the current price of the iPhone 5s. As you probably know, Apple is currently working on its new streaming music service, which is based on the Beats Music functionality and which is expected to be embedded either to iOS 8.4 or iOS 9. According to the latest report released by The New York Times reporters, Trent Reznor and Jimmy Iovine are playing major roles in the development of the service. The reporters believe that in terms of functionality and usability this Apple’s creation will be quite similar to Beats Music and that it will be priced $9.99 per month, just like the rival services.
According to what people familiar with the matter claim, the guys from Cupertino may soon launch the iPhone trade-in program in China. Starting March 31st, the customers in this Asian country will get an opportunity to change their older iPhone in working condition for a gift card with a discount, which can be used when purchasing the newer smartphone. What is interesting about the trade-in program in China, the old devices will be traded to Foxconn, repaired and sold on the secondary market.
Following the release of the fifth OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 beta, the guys from Cupertino on Tuesday made the fourth iOS 8.3 beta available for developers. This same beta is also available for the members of iOS public beta testing program. The release comes nearly two weeks after the release of the previous iOS 8.3 beta, which could boast of support of Google’s two-step verification, wireless CarPlay connectivity, new emojis and a number of other improvements.
Following the release of the fourth beta of iOS 8.3 to developers and public testers, the guys from Cupertino stopped signing iOS 8.1.3. I must admit, this is a piece of bad news for all those people who use jailbroken iPhones and iPads as it is now impossible to downgrade to this version of Apple’s mobile operating system after unsuccessful jailbreak. The risk of turning your fully functional device into a brick has once again risen.
