Facebook Has Released Messenger App for iPhone

Messenger Facebook has just launched Messenger app that extends its Messages service. This app will allow sending Facebook messages to your Facebook contacts and text messages to your phone’s contacts. In addition to messages the app will allow you to send pictures as well. It is obviously that this app will compete with Blackberry Мessenger, iMessage from Apple and other messaging applications presented on the market, and with a user base of about 700 million it will certainly be a serious contender for existing services. Facebook Messenger is available in both the Android Market and iTunes App Store. The app is based on the Beluga technology, which was recently acquired by Facebook. Also the app was revealed to contain a hidden video component. The component seems to work on both iPhone and Android and would likely work with their recently presented Skype desktop service for video conferencing.
