Mac App Store Reaches 10,000 Available Apps

According to , Apple [3]'s Mac App Store [4] reached a milestone of 10,000 apps that are available for free [5] download or purchase via the marketplace.
Apple distributes its own major software [6] titles for the Mac platform and OS X Lion [7] itself through the store that was launched in January 2011.
The 10.000 app milestone pales in comparison to the 600,000 apps offered via the iOS App Store, but by standards of desktop software sales the online store remains a success. Last December the Mac App Store hit 100 million [8] downloads and became the largest and fastest growing online store for PC software in the world.
