New iPad will boast GF2 Touch Screen Technology

According to some sources, the next generation iPad will feature a 2048 x 1536 resolution, the same as the current model has. However, the new iPad  is to boast a slimmer bezel as well as GF2 touch screen technology. This will undoubtedly make the device thinner and lighter. It is also claimed that the touch panel technology will be supplied by TPK and GIS.

It is also believed that LG, Samsung Display and Sharp will be the suppliers of the retina displays both the next generation iPad and iPad mini.

Apple still seams to be choosing between the oxide TFT or LTPS backplane technology to use in its next-generation iPad mini. According to some rumors,  Sharp is ready to provide Apple with Oxide TFT technology while LG and Samsung are more specialized in LTPS. The fact is that the Korean companies сonsider using oxide TFT does not result in significantly less power consumption.

It has been debated inside Apple company whether to apply Retina display technology in the next generation iPad or not, as the updated device is likely to eat into iPad's share of the market. .

Last April, KGI Securities Analyst reported that Apple will use GF2 technology in its iPad and iPad mini, making the iPad 15% thinner and 25% lighter.
