Apple Seeds OS X 10.11 El Capitan Beta 5 to Developers and Public Testers





Apple has recently seeded the fifth pre-release build of OS X 10.11 El Capitan to developers for testing. The fourth beta was released only a week ago and the very first El Capitan version was officially announced in June at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference. As you probably know, this version of Apple’s desktop operating system can boast of a wide number of under-the-hood improvements, but lacks new features or noticeable design tweaks.

iPad mini 4 to Get Better Processor, 8MP Camera and Other Improvements - Rumor



According to the latest report published by the Japanese blog Macotakara, the iPad mini 4, which is expected to be released this fall, will be a smaller copy of the iPad Air 2. People familiar with the matter claim the tablet will get an updated 64-bit A8 processor, 802.11ac Wi-Fi and the 8-megapixel rear camera. Moreover, the fourth-generation iPad mini will become thinner - only 6.1mm.

Apple Reportedly Killed 4-inch iPhone 6c to Sell More iPhone 6 Units



According to Timothy Arcuri of Cowen and Company, Apple has initially planned to release a 4-inch iPhone 6c this fall. The decision to halt the development and production of the smaller handset until the next year may be connected with the fact that the 6c can possibly reduce the demand and sales of the iPhone 6, which was released in 2014. It is quite obvious that the guys from Cupertino want to sell as many iPhone 6 and 6 Plus units as possible and releasing a new lower-cost iPhone is definitely not the best way to do this.

Here’s How iPhone 7 Concept Looks Like [Video]



As you already know, Apple is expected to release new handsets, namely, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus later this year. These devices will reportedly feature 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch displays, 12-megapixel cameras, new A9 processors, 2GB of RAM and a number of other useful features.

Apple Was in Talks with BMW About Using BMW i3 for Its Car Project



According to the latest report from a German magazine called Manager Magazin, Apple was in negotiations with the German car manufacturer BMW concerning the possibility to use the BMW i3 platform for the upcoming electric vehicle, which is expected to be released in 2020. The guys from Cupertino planned to use i3’s lightweight carbon fiber body as a basis for their own car, however, for some reason the companies decided to halt the talks and concentrate on other projects.

Apple’s Smartphone Market Share Continues to Grow - IDC



According to the latest report from, a research firm IDC, Apple’s smartphone market share continues to increase. In the second quarter of 2015, the share reached 14.1%. If to compare this result with the year-ago quarter, we’ll notice a 3.1% growth. The number of smartphone units sold to customers worldwide increased from 35.2 million in Q2 2014 to 47.5 million in the second quarter of this year. That’s definitely a good result, I must admit.

Apple Files Three Patents Describing Biometric Input Devices



The guys from Cupertino have recently filed three patent applications that describe a technology capable of gathering user’s biometric information, storing it and associating this information with a certain user’s profile that can be used to control other device or devices remotely. Looks like Apple is seriously planning to release a remote for its long-awaited television set or Apple TV set-top box that will allow to identify users and configure their accounts and settings using biometric sensors detecting fingerprints, voice or other personal characteristics.

Apple Takes 75.5% of Worldwide Smartwatch Market - Strategy Analytics



According to the latest report from a research firm called Strategy Analytics, global smartwatch market has grown 457% over the last year. In the second quarter of 2014, smartwatch vendors managed to sell about 1 million of wearable devices. In the second quarter of 2015, however, the worldwide shipments accounted for impressive 5 million units. Previously, Samsung was the leader of the market with the share of 73.6% and 0.7 million smartwatch units shipped. Now the first place is occupied by Apple with the share of 75.5% and 4 million Apple Watches sold to customers worldwide.

Apple Announces Financial Results in Q3 2015



Apple on Tuesday announced its financial results in the third fiscal or second calendar quarter of 2015. According to the numbers, which were shared by the guys from Cupertino at a conference call yesterday, the company managed to earn $49.6 billion in revenue and $10.7 billion in net profit during the last quarter. If to compare these financial results with the results of the year-ago quarter, we’ll see that they are noticeably higher. The revenue of Q3 2014 was equal to $37.4 billion and the net profit accounted for $7.7 billion.

Apple Seeds Fourth OS X 10.11 El Capitan Beta to Developers



Apart from seeding iOS 9 Beta 4 to testers, the guys from Cupertino have recently made the fourth pre-release build of OS X 10.11 El Capitan available for registered members of the program for developers. The release took place two weeks after the debut of the previous El Capitan beta, which contained a number of under-the-hood enhancements.
