Redesigned MacBook Air Planned For 3Q 2013 Release

Taiwanese website Economic Times reports (via Macotakara) that Apple is preparing for a release of its next-generation MacBook Air in the third quarter of 2013.

The report said the new MacBook Air will not only be upgraded with Intel's Haswell platform but also will receive new external features, possibly a Retina display. The website claims the supplier will start shipping components to Apple’s partner Quanta in the second quarter.

Аnalyst Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities had previously indicated that the updated MacBook Air would not have Retina display, which would likely force the device to accommodate a thicker display assembly and would required significantly more battery power than displays in current models.
