Samsung Request Depositions From iPhone Designers, Including Jony Ive

samsung

The legal conflict over copycat of mobile devices between Samsung and Apple continue to escalate in different countries and now Samsung requests testimonies from Apple’s designers working on iPhone, including senior vice president Jonathan Ive. Also Samsung wants to receive source code of iPhone 4S and details of agreements between Apple and Australian carriers.

As Josh Rosenthal from Edible Apple said, testimonies of iPhone inventors Christopher Stringer, Jonathan Ive, Shin Nishibori and Douglas Satzger will be heard relatively soon. Originally testimony was planned to be heard by November 1. But due to scheduling issues, Samsung had to file a motion for extending a timeframe, that mentions that aforementioned designers will not be able to sit for deposition before 1 November for various reasons. Jony Ive, for example, can’t sit for deposition by November 1 “for personal reasons”.

Jony Ive is especially important figure for Samsung as he was Jobs’s spiritual partner and it is said that no person could tell him what to do. And as such he knows many Apple’s inner workings and secrets.

Doug Satzger is an Apple veteran in finishes and color materials and now he is presumably an employee of Hewlett-Packard. Christopher Stringer and Shin Nishibori have their names on a number of Apple patents related to retail packaging, Macs, iPods, iOS devices.
