According to [2] DigiTimes, shipments of the iMac and iPad mini are expected to be limited in 2012 due to display production issues.

Reportedly, the panels for the iPad mini have seen low yield rates. As a result, Apple may fall short of 10 million target and reach only 6 million mark for the shipments of the iPad mini in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, the supplies of the just announced iMacs will also be constrained due to issues with panels from LGD. The report notes:

“Additionally, the sources said new iMac models use panels sourced only from LGD. The company has had to develop a new production process for mass producing the iMac panels and has limited capacity, which is delaying shipments”.

It is expected that yields for iMac and iPad mini will not reach the target levels until the first quarter of the next year.

Apple informed that the new iMac would be available on Friday, Nov. 30, but the 27-inch model would begin shipping in December.
