Apple Quietly Removes Original iPad mini from Online Store



Apple has earlier this week quietly removed the original iPad mini from its online store. This means that it is not possible to purchase this device directly from Apple’s virtual marketplace anymore. In case you don’t know, the smaller version of the iPad was released in 2012 and could boast of the 7.9-inch display, Apple A5 processor, 512MB of RAM and 5-megapixel camera. Frankly speaking, it’s high time the guys from Cupertino removed this device from the store. You see, there are currently two other iPad mini models that are more powerful and efficient.

iOS 8.1.1 Slightly Improves Performance of iPhone 4S and iPad 2



As you probably know, after the release of iOS 8 back in September, many iPhone 4S users began reporting various performance issues. On Monday, Apple released iOS 8.1.1, which, according to the release notes, was expected to improve performance on older devices, namely, the iPhone 4S and the iPad 2. As noted by the researchers from Ars Technica, the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system does improve the stability and performance of the older handsets and tablets, however, only slightly. Moreover, average users are very unlikely to notice these improvements as nearly all the build-in apps still work slower than that of iOS 7.

Two More Evasi0n7 Exploits Successfully Patched in iOS 7.1 Beta 5



Looks like Apple has found a way to prevent people from jailbreaking their iOS devices. According to iH8sn0w, iOS 7.1 beta 5, released on Tuesday, patches two exploits used to jailbreak Apple’s smartphones and tablets. Keep in mind that the fourth beta patched another vulnerability used by evasi0n7. It appears that beginning from iOS 7.1, it would be impossible to hack your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. And that is definitely not good.

iPad Air is Cheaper to Build than iPad 3



Apple’s new iPad Air is about 13% or $42 cheaper to build than the last-year iPad - the 16GB Wi-Fi-only model cost is $274. Although some components, namely, the 9.7-inch Retina display, are a bit more expensive than earlier, in general the device now costs less.

MuscleNerd Denies Rumors of a Bootrom Exploit



Popular hacker MuscleNerd has denied rumors that a bootrom exploit has been found for the iPhone. Earlier today, he tweeted:

There is no A5+ bootrom exploit, by anyone. Not even a bootrom dump. Nothing.

Speculation that a bootrom exploit may have been found began after p0sixninja tweeted that he would be releasing something bigger than a jailbreak.

The bootrom exploit can devices permanently vulnerable to a tethered jailbreak regardless of iOS version. The last bootrom exploit was limera1n found by Geohot which supported A4 devices like iPhone 4 and below.
