New iPhone to Be Called iPhone Edition – Rumors



According to the latest report from a Japanese website MacOtakara, the next-generation iPhone with an OLED screen and other major improvements may be called the iPhone Edition. The release of the model may take place much later than the release of the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus that will be only slightly updated. The reporters believe the phone to be a premium model and a perfect choice for the Apple Watch Edition.

First public reference pointing to the macOS 10.13 that is expected to be released this fall has been spotted by Pike's Universum. The reference seems to be a CatalogURL for developer seeds. It proves that Apple is already working on the new version of the operating system for Mac computers.

All iPhones to Feature OLED Screens in 2019



According to the latest report from Korean supply chain insiders, Apple is planning to equip all iPhones with OLED displays by 2019.

In 2017, only one model, the iPhone 8, will get a new screen. In 2018, the company plans to use new technology on half of the phones. Finally, in 2019 Apple wants to switch from LCD displays to OLED panels completely.

Apple to Release OLED iPhone 8 and 2 LCD Models – Nikkei



According to the latest report from Nikkei Asian Review, Apple will indeed release a 5.8-inch OLED iPhone 8 later this year. Along with this model, the company will unveil the 4.7-inch iPhone 7s and 5.5-inch iPhone 7s Plus with LCD screens. Releasing two larger models, Apple plans to increase the average selling price to $700 and lure new customers in Asia and other regions.

iPhone 8 to Get New Fingerprint Scanner, Production to Start in September



According to the latest report from Digitimes, Apple will replace the Touch ID fingerprint scanner in the iPhone 8 with a new system developed internally. The fingerprint scanner embedded in the display of the OLED iPhone will be based on technologies developed by firms Apple has acquired over the last couple of years, namely, Authentec and Privaris. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company will produce new fingerprint scanners using the 65-nanometer process. The report cites reliable insiders.

1,000 Apple Engineers Working on AR in Israel

Apple Took 3rd Place in Top Smartwatch Vendors List



Apple’s share in the wearables market grew 13% year over year in the fourth quarter of 2016. The company shipped 4.6 million Apple Watch units and took 13.6% of market. This allowed the manufacturer to take the third spot in the ranking shared by a research firm IDC representing top vendors of smartwatches and other wearable devices. The first place of the ranking is occupied by Fitbit, that lost 22.7% of the market share and the second one – by Xiaomi. The fourth and the fifth spots are taken by Garmin and Samsung.

iPhone 8 Won’t Get USB-C – Ming-Chi Kuo
