Apple’s top iOS Engineering Vice President - Henri Lamiraux - retired from Apple a couple of weeks ago. This happened just after the iOS 7.0.3 release. According to Lamiraux’s words, he planned to leave the company a “little while ago”. As we can see, Apple’s former top iOS engineer successfully accomplished the task he'd set.

Apple Files a Patent for Built-in MacBook and iPhone Solar Power Converters



U.S. Patent and Trademark Office posted on Thursday another patent application. And again it was Apple that filed a patent for "Power management systems for accepting adapter and solar power in electronic devices," or, in other words, for a solar power converter.

Apple Files a Patent for a System that Allows to Control Access to Content



Apple filed another patent. This time it’s a system that allows to control access to content using a person's physical features. The patent application entitled “Systems and methods for controlling output of content based on human recognition data detection” was published on the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s website on Thursday.

Apple Asks Developers to Submit Apps for OS X Mavericks



Apple has asked its developers to submit applications compatible with new OS X Mavericks.

Make sure your app takes advantage of the great new features in OS X Mavericks when the world’s most advanced desktop operating system becomes available to millions of customers later this fall. Download OS X Mavericks GM seed and Xcode 5.0.1 GM seed, now available on the Mac Dev Center. Build your apps with these latest seeds, then test and submit them to the Mac App Store.

AppleCare staff is currently being trained on OS X Mavericks. As it has been announced earlier, the official release of the new OS X version will take place this fall, presumably on October 22nd, along with the new iPad launch.

"Blue Screen of Death"... on the iPhone 5s?



Some iPhone 5s owners report about a "Blue Screen of Death" that reboots their devices each time they use Apple’s iWork suite. People began complaining about such a bug in September - right after the iWork apps became available for everyone.

Apple Patents a New SIM Card Tray Design



The United States Patent and Trademark office has recently granted Apple’s rights for the patent called “Systems and methods for ejecting removable modules from electronic devices". Or, in other words - for a new SIM card tray design. According to the Apple’s application, such a design will allow to retain and eject the SIM card using magnetic means instead of mechanical that are said to be inconvenient.

Apps on the iPhone 5s Crash Twice as Often as on the iPhone 5 ans 5c



According to Crittercism (via AllThingsD), applications crash twice as often on the iPhone 5s than on the plastic iPhone 5c or even on the last-year iPhone 5. Surprisingly, this is all due to the flagship’s new 64-bit processor, which debuted in September. The apps running on the 5s have a crash rate of nearly 2%, while those on the iPhone 5 and 5c’s 32-bit chip - of about 1%.
