iPhone 5's Battery, Back Camera, and Audio Flex Cable Parts Leaked

batteries

TVC Mall, iPhone parts supplier, has posted a few new claimed iPhone 5 parts, including the Battery, Back Camera Lens, and Headphone/Earphone Audio Jack Flex Cable. As you may notice, the new parts are different from the existing iPhone 4 parts.

The specifications on the iPhone 5 battery shows 3.7V and 5.3Whr, in comparison the iPhone 4 part shows 3.7V and 5.25Whr. The only thing that slightly differs from the iPhone 4 is a connector on the battery of the iPhone 5 that is rotated.  The back camera module reveals a closely embedded camera flash, similar to the iPhone 4’s. As usual, there are no specifications.

Apple Testing LTE in iOS 5 and Hiring More LTE Engineers

lte

Early last week there appeared some rumors that Apple has been testing a 4G LTE-enabled iPhone with carriers. In an "internal iOS test build" was found a property list file (.plist) for LTE. This might mean that Apple was already testing LTE hardware. This LTE.plist file, however, was found only in some of the builds (GSM iPhone 4, CDMA iPad 2) and it was related to Apple's internal "Fieldtest" application.

LTE is the term the next generation wireless broadband network that is currently being deployed by both Verizon and AT&T. Data speeds for LTE should be significantly faster than the iPhone's existing 3G network.

Other rumors suggest that it is unlikely that Apple will make the jump to LTE so early with the iPhone 5, because, as Apple's Tim Cook said, the first generation of LTE chipsets forced a lot of design compromises, and Apple was unwilling to make those compromises. Such compromises could include very short battery life for mobile phones.  But, as far as we know, AT&T had installed 4G LTE equipment in a major Apple retail store and Apple had put out a job listing for field test engineers with expertise in LTE.

New possibilities of Bluetooth 4.0 In Apple's Latest Products

Bluetooth 4.0

Latest MacBook Airs and Mac Minis incorporate new Bluetooth 4.0 chips. This technology includes Bluetooth Low Energy specification that provides low-latency and low-power implementation. One of the examples of its possible usage is Nike+ accessory, which isn’t actually based on this technology, but works very similar to it. Backlit Keyboard to Return in New MacBook Air

backlight

The new MacBook may come with a return of the backlit keyboard. The backlit keyboard was omitted from the October 2010 redesign of the laptops line, as rumored, due to design issues and battery life constrains. The new MacBook Airs will feature the design of 2010 MacBook Airs. A backlit keyboard may be helpful in low-light conditions, and it’s currently implemented in all versions of Apple’s MacBook Pro line. Appleinsider’s sources, who are familiar with the matter, claim that the new laptops will be launched any time this month.

With the release of new models later this month, Apple is set to reinstate a feature to its MacBook Airs that went missing when the company overhauled the ultra-thin notebooks into more cost-affordable products late last year, AppleInsider has learned.

According to people familiar with the matter, backlit keyboards will join the string of hardware enhancements planned for the new 11.6- and 13.3-inch notebooks, which are also expected to adopt high-speed Thunderbolt ports, an upgrade to Intel’s Sandy Bridge architecture, and possibly high-speed 400MBps flash memory.

Next MacBook Air to Adopt Faster, More Power Efficient SSD

chip

The Japanese website Macotakara claims that the new MacBook Air will include SSD drive with adopted a new Toggle DDR 2.0 type of NAND Flash Memory.

Current SSD device Blade X-gale supporting SATA 2.6 will be abolished and new 19nm flash memory will be packaged into smaller chip and will be soldered on base circuit directly.

The new Flash chips will be built directly in the MacBook Air's motherboard; they support speeds of 400Mb/s, and will allow future controllers to run faster than today’s SSDs with "half the number of channels, providing both a cost and space savings", and could improve battery life for an hour or more.

The resulting power throttling capability enables the drive’s high-performance levels without any increase in power consumption over a 40nm-class 16Gb NAND-based 256GB SSD. The controller also analyzes frequency of use and preferences of the user to automatically activate a low-power mode that can extend a notebook’s battery life for an hour or more.

Next-Generation iPod Nano to Add Rear-Facing Camera

ipod_nano

Taiwanese site Apple.pro reports that the seventh-generation iPod nano presumably set for introduction later this year may retain its current smaller form factor but still add a rear-facing camera once again. The photo above claimed to be the rear case for the next-generation iPod nano with a camera hole in an upper right corner.  The camera seems to take up some space occupied by the battery, so the new device may use a smaller battery or its components could be shifted to accommodate the camera.
