The University of Stanford created an iPhone related course for iTunes U. The first lesson will help developers to create iPhone applications, almost from scratch.

The course is obviously in English, and videos are posted about 2 days after the actual recording. The quality is very good, and we can even download the slides in PDF. To get started, just click here. And... yes, it is free.

To create an iTunes App Store account without a credit card please follow the steps below.

Note: In order to create an account without a credit card, you must make sure you are in the App Store, not the iTunes Store.

1. Pick your country from the pop-up menu at the bottom of the iTunes Store homepage.
2. If your country also has an iTunes Store, you'll need to navigate to the App Store by clicking on the "App Store" link from the menu on the left.  If not, proceed to step 3.

Clippy is an iPhone addition for copy/paste functionality. It was updated to version 0.98. There are significant improvements that make the application much more stable, and moreover it is important to note that starting from now, Clippit becomes a completely free.

Mjoy application allowed you to send free SMS messages from your iPhone and iTouch. Apple removed it from App Store, certainly because of complaints from mobile operators.

The application allowed to send SMS via WiFi and 3G, and therefore could be used wherever you were (which is quite inconvenient for the operators). Now it remains accessible to the webapp accessed through Safari www.mjoy.com, but certainly is not the same thing.

GigaOM reports that an iPhone version of Skype may be released as soon as next week, possibly at the CTIA Wireless trade show in Las Vegas.

A few months ago, I asked Skype CEO Josh Silverman when was he going to launch the iPhone version of the P2P voice and IM service that has now been downloaded more than 405 million times. He smiled and said, "Stay tuned." And so we did.

A tipster, a very reliable one, tells me that Skype is almost ready to launch that iPhone version, perhaps as soon as next week. CTIA Wireless, a large mobile industry trade event, kicks off in Las Vegas next Wednesday, so perhaps the announcement will be made there. I am working on getting more details, as well as screenshots of the service.

For now we can use Fring, which is free and works just fine.

The original Wolfenstein is now available for free for the iPhone. You need to jailbreak your phone to get in on the fun. The game is truly a classic. This is a first-person shooter in which we should govern our character among many doors and endless mazes. The controls are "fairly" good, based solely on the touch screen.

Clippy is an iPhone addition from Cydia for copy/paste functionality. It was updated to version 0.97-2. The main bug that was fixes is a crash of different applications such as Notes, Safari, Mail and others where the animation was drawn. New version also added a language pack, improved the animation of the menu, full support for selecting editable text in web views, themes support and a lot more.

There are many iPhone applications, that alow you to play drums (f.e. real drums). However you should take a look at Kanon Drums, application from japanese developers. This app is fantastic. It works really good, you can play along with some famous riffs.

Wallpaper Labeler (AppStore link) and gCalWall Lite (AppStore link) let you add appointments and notes to the home screen. With Wallpaper Labeler, you can enter any text you want to your wallpaper, so you can leave yourself (or whoever finds your phone) notes. The other app, gCalWall, pulls down upcoming appointments from your default Google Calendar and splays them all over your home screen. You have to update it manually, which is kind of a drag, but the dev says that iPhone API won't allow for automatic updating. Both apps are free

In the past you could only use Intelliscreen paid app on a jailbreaked iPhone.

If you don't, "iFirstAid" is the right application for your needs. It is an easy to use application that will allow you to correctly handle an emergency situation. All the basic information you need for the correct handling of an emergency case is illustrated and shortly described.
