Abramsky Believes RIM Needs To Spin-off BlackBerry
According to analyst Mike Abramsky with RBC Capital, BlackBerry-manufacturer Research in Motion should change itself and alter its outdated way of thinking by spinning-off its network and handset departments.

Now Adobe’s Flash Builder and Flex framework supports iPhone and iPad
This morning Adobe a large number of software updates to the Flex Framework and Flash Builder that will make it possible for developers to create projects for BlackBerry PlayBook, iPhone and iPad, besides Android support that was implemented in April.
Now version 4.5 of Flex and Flash are added to Creative Suite 5.5 Web Premium and Master Collection, but also they can be bought separately (Flash Builder Standard for 249$, Premium for 669$). In a blog post Adobe’s Puneed Goel gave praises to the release:

Mobile advertisers take a second look on dumbphones
Here is for RIM so regularly criticized by Apple: advertisers of mobile devices didn’t forget about the platform and are currently taking a second look on it, which results in rising of dumb phone advertising, stated an advertising network Millennial Media this Wednesday.
This surprising comeback has expressed in 6 percent grew of mobile ads on RIM devices in May, while "feature phones" make up 17 percent of Feature Phone, Smartphone and Connected Devices mix in May, as estimated by Millennial Media. Android and iOS Continue To Dominate In US Smartphone Market
comScore has released the results of its April survey (comScore surveyed over 30,000 mobile phone subscribers.) of mobile phone usage in the United States. Surpassing Research in Motion, Apple took the solid second place among smartphone platforms and now iOS holds 26.0% of market. Google’s Android leads the pack with 36.4% of the market, an increase of 5.2 percentage points over the three month period. Research in Motion's BlackBerry operating system has slipped to 25.7%. When looking at mobile phone manufacturers overall, Apple is now the fourth largest vendor with a share of 8.3% of the US market. Samsung remains number one with 24.5% of the market, followed by LG and Motorola.
Survey Reveals How Consumers Use Their iPad
Business Insider conducted an extensive survey having asked more than 850 people questions that surround the iPad and how it is used. Their survey revealed that for about 70% of respondents, there was only 1 iPad in their household and only about 23% has 2 in the one household – less than 7% had 3 or more iPads in their household. Nearly 40% had downloaded between 20 and 50 apps, whilst 30% had downloaded more than 50 apps – with few paying for more than 20 of those apps and only 6% paying for none. What does the Skype sale mean for Apple customers?
By now everyone seems to know that Microsoft has acquired online communication giant Skype for a huge 8.5 billion dollars. Mac and iOS users immediately questioned the acquisition as a way for Microsoft to turn Skype into an exclusive service for Windows Live-connected devices and other Microsoft products such as the Xbox, Windows 7 and the new Windows Phone 7 OS. Steve Ballmer, however, was quick to reassure everyone that Skype will continue working on the Mac, iOS and all the other platforms it currently runs on (including RIM’s BlackBerry and Symbian). Microsoft, of course, takes Apple as one of the major rivals, though it has a full version of Office 2011 available for Macs, and many apps for iPhones and iPads. The question, however, is whether Skype will ever release a native iPad app as promised last year, and if the new owner will also bring some welcome interface changes to the Mac app.
Apple Changes Its App Policy, Focuses On The Quality, Not Quantity
Recently Apple has made changes to its app policy and focused on making the iOS App Store the most attractive rather than simply the biggest.
Lately the company has banned the idea of "incentivized app installs", which was used by certain game developers to prompt players to install other apps if they want to continue playing. Because of the incentives some apps become artificially popular and don’t reflect the actual situation in top games chart, for instance.

Initial Verizon iPhone 4 Sales May Be Below Expectations
This Wednesday Boy Genius Report revealed that the launch of the Verizon iPhone 4 did not meet the expectations of Verizon and Apple. Their unknown Apple source even provided figures of sales in five Apple stores, two of which are "very, very prominent" locations. Apple reportedly testing three iPhone 5 prototypes
A Taiwanese news site reports that Apple is now testing three radically different prototypes of the next iPhone. The first prototype, for business, a Blackberry-like iPhone 5 with a slide-out physical QWERTY keyboard for faster typing. Another iPhone 5 prototype is said to closely resemble the current iPhone 4 with a longer-lasting battery and an 8 megapixel rear camera. If this prototype is released, the iPhone 5 will be to the iPhone 4 what the iPhone 3GS was to the iPhone 3G. Of the third prototype, nothing is known, but it may be the 4-inch iPhone 5 we posted about earlier today.

Verizon will sell 9 million iPhones in 2011
Another Gene Munster's research note reveals that Apple will release the CDMA-enabled iPhone in early to mid 2011, ad 2,5 million of these devices will be sold by Verizon in 2011.
Piper Jaffray, where Munster works at, assumed that Verizon will sell approximately 25 million smartphones in the next year, and 36% of it (or 9 million) will be Apple's iPhones. But the majority of those who will buy CDMA-enabled iPhone occurs to be the switchers from AT&T, and that's why only 2.5 million Apple's phones will be sold by Verizon.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Is an 'Over-Sized Phone', Not Tablet
Sencha, which is a web application developer, has recently compared Android-based Samsung Galaxy Tab and Apple's iPad and made a conclusion that a Samsung's tablet is "a little bit of disappointment".
As Sencha develops different JavaScript frameworks that enable developers to creating rich mobile apps for Android and iOS devices built from web standards, the company is interested to know how good actual products perform and support HTML5 and related web standards. The latter include overall JavaScript performance, embedded multimedia playback, Web Sockets, Canvas animations, SVG and advanced CSS3 transforms.
