Apple's iPhone 5s, Samsung's Galaxy S5, Nexus 5 and Other Devices Hacked by Security Researchers





At the annual two-day Mobile Pwn2Own conference held earlier this week by HP, several groups of developers managed to find a number of bugs in iOS, Android and Windows Phone platforms and successfully hacked Apple's iPhone 5s, Samsung's Galaxy S5, Google's Nexus 5, Microsoft's Nokia Lumia 1520 and Amazon's Fire Phone. What I find interesting is that the hackers were able to get full control over all of the handsets except for one. You will never guess, which device turned out to be the most reliable.

iOS 8 Adoption Rate Is Now Close to 60% - Apple



According to what can be found on the App Store support page for developers, the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system is currently installed on 56% of compatible devices. Over the past month, the adoption rate has increased 8% and that is an impressive result, I must say. In case you don't know, Apple made the eighth version of iOS available for users worldwide seven and a half weeks ago.

Apple has recently released a new beta of OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 to developers for testing. The release comes just one week after the release of the previous OS X 10.10.1 beta, which had a build number 14B17 and contained a wide number of stability improvements and bug fixes.

Mac Version of Pangu Jailbreak for iOS 8 - 8.1 Coming Soon



Good news for all those OS X users who want to jailbreak their iPhones with iOS 8 - 8.1 on board. PanguTeam on Wednesday announced that the version of their utility for untethered jailbreak will be released in a couple of days. The pleasant piece of news was yesterday spotted on developers' official Twitter page, where they acknowledged the release of Cydia 1.1.16 and posted some words that deal with jailbreak for Mac users.

Apple Releases iOS 8.1.1 Beta to Developers for Testing



Apart from seeding the new beta of OS X Yosemite 10.10.1, the guys from Cupertino on Monday released iOS 8.1.1 to developers for testing. The update comes two weeks after the official release of iOS 8.1, which contained the support of the recently-launched mobile payments service called Apple Pay as well as some bug fixes and stability improvements.

Pangu8 iOS 8.0 - 8.1 Jailbreak Released With Cydia Included



The PanguTeam has just announced the release of their Pangu8 jailbreak utility for iOS 8.0 - 8.1 with a working version of Cydia included.

This marks the first user safe version of the iOS 8.0 - 8.1 jailbreak to be released. A previous version of the utility intended for developers was released last week.

We'll be posting the full instructions on how to jailbreak your device using Pangu8 version 1.1 shortly. You can download the Pangu jailbreak utility from here.

iOS 8 Adoption Rate Reaches 52% Five Weeks After Release



Several days ago, I told you about OS X Yosemite adoption rate, which at that time was 12.8%. Today I'd like to talk about Apple's iOS 8 and its adoption rate.

According to the latest figures published on Apple's App Store support page for developers, five weeks after the release, the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system is installed on 52% of devices. And this is an impressive result, I must admit.

iAds Are Now Available in 70 New Countries



Apple on Tuesday announced that it has extended iAds support to additional 70 countries, making the advertising network available in 95 countries. The announcement was placed on Apple's official webpage for developers.

As to the countries where the new system has been launched this week, they include those of Europe, Americas, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia.

OS X Yosemite Adoption Rate Reaches 12.8% in First Six Days After Release



According to the latest report from Chitika, OS X Yosemite adoption rate is a bit higher than the adoption rate of OS X Mavericks last year. After six days of being available for public, the latest version of Apple's operating system for Macs was installed on 12.8% of computers in North America. In case you don't know, last year the adoption rate of OS X Mavericks was 12.4%.

PanguTeam Releases Update to Their Untethered Jailbreak Utility



The PanguTeam has just released an update for their utility for untethered jailbreak of iOS 8 - 8.1. According to what the hackers write, this update contains important improvements and bug fixes for Cydia, Mobile Substrate, iMessage and Safari. Those who had problems with these apps or those who waited for the stable version of Pangu8 can now upgrade to iOS 8.1 and jailbreak their devices with no fear at all. Everything will work fine, the developers claim.

PanguTeam Releases Update on iOS 8 - 8.1 Jailbreak



The PanguTeam on Saturday released an important update on the status of its jailbreak utility for iOS 8 - 8.1. As you probably know, earlier this week, the hackers released a new version of untethered jailbreak for iOS 8 - 8.1. It should be noted, however, that this version turned out to be very unstable and was available only for Windows users, that is why the PaunguTeam decided to pull the update back and make it available only for jailbreak developers.

iOS 8.1 Beta Contains @3x iPad Images Hinting at Higher Resolution iPad



Triple size iPad user interface elements have been found in the iOS 8.1 beta seeded to developers for testing by Hamza Sood.

Some Apple frameworks on iOS 8.1 contain @3x iPad assets. Bring on the Retina HD iPads!

It's been rumored that Apple is planning to release a larger 12.9-inch 'iPad Pro' with a more powerful A8X processor. The device is said to feature larger speaker grilles, a smaller camera lens, and a slightly thinner body.

Apple Pay Setup Screens Found in iOS 8.1 Beta



Developer Hamza Sood has found new Apple Pay setup screens hidden in iOS 8.1. Apple seeded the second beta of iOS 8.1 to developers today. The update is expected to bring support for Apple Pay; however, support for the feature is still unavailable, even to developers.

Sood managed to unearth the setup screens in the Passbook app and the initial iOS 8.1 setup process.

Apple to Release iOS 8.1 With Support of Apple Pay on October 20th?



It appears that aside from the financial results in the fourth fiscal quarter, on October 20th, Apple is planning to release iOS 8.1 and launch its long-awaited payments service called Apple Pay. This is what Bank Innovation writes. Another thing, which indicates that the next-gen mobile operating system will indeed come less than in three weeks, is the fact that it has been recently seeded to developers for testing.
