Fring app is updated to a new version. You can download it in AppStore (link). The question is who needs Fring, when we have official Skype app?

The iPhone Blog reports that in the iPhone 3.0 beta firmware, users are being told that may not re-download applications over-the-air without being charged. The dialog box (shown above), however, does indicate that users may still re-download applications for free through their computer.

The SuicideGirls Flip Strip iPhone app is based on the classic nudie pen concept -- with a high tech twist. Flick left and right to choose from 10 sexy girls, then flip your iPhone or iTouch upside down to watch her clothes disappear.

The app is now available for free via AppStore (link).

YXFlash is a new application that is available in Cydia and includes the codecs to display Xvid / DivX video files . We will not longer need to convert movies into a format supported by Apple. The converted videos do play a bit smoother due to hardware acceleration, but xvid videos are watchable, at least the ones I tested. The player also plays flash content if you have downloaded flash flv videos to your device. It is not a web based flash player, this does not play flash videos embedded on websites. In order to add the videos just upload them using iFunBox or iPhone Browser.

Here is the complete list of formats supported by the complete version:

• Mpeg4, H.264
• Windows Media Video (.wmv)
• Xvid/DivX (.avi)
• MP4, MP3, AAC and Windows Media Audio

The free version offers support only for MP3 and DivX. You can download the application via Cydia in the BigBoss repository. The full version costs around $10.

The mobile Yandex.Traffic Lite application allows monitor road traffic in real time for efficient route planning. The application shows traffic in four Russain cities: Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Kiev. It is easy to use: just turn it on and choose the city. The application features scalable maps, and also shows the traffic congestion score and its tendency. The application requires active internet connection to function.

The app is free and avaliable via AppStore (link).

reMail Search is a new application available for free in AppStore (link). It allows users to perform accurate searches in emails. There is an automatic completion of keywords in the search mode, so you can find neccesary emails very quickly.

reMail Search also works offline. The application, in fact, downloads e-mails keeping them in the cache on your iPhone / iPod Touch. reMail Search also works with all IMAP accounts, such as Gmail. The application is compatible with iPhone and iPod Touch, requires upgrading to firmware 2.2 and is localized in English.

The Dictionary.com does just what you might expect it to, it delivers content from Dictionary.com and Thesaurus.com. There are 275,000 definitions and 80,000 synonyms. The app also features audio pronunciations, similarly spelled words and Dictionary.com’s popular Word of the Day. Internet connection is required only for Word of the Day, audio pronunciations and similarly spelled words.

The University of Stanford created an iPhone related course for iTunes U. The first lesson will help developers to create iPhone applications, almost from scratch.

The course is obviously in English, and videos are posted about 2 days after the actual recording. The quality is very good, and we can even download the slides in PDF. To get started, just click here. And... yes, it is free.

Note: In order to create an account without a credit card, you must make sure you are in the App Store, not the iTunes Store.

1. Pick your country from the pop-up menu at the bottom of the iTunes Store homepage.
2. If your country also has an iTunes Store, you'll need to navigate to the App Store by clicking on the "App Store" link from the menu on the left.  If not, proceed to step 3.
