Swype VP Confirms Discussions With Apple On Its Keyboard Technology



Earlier this week highly popular Swype keyboard become available for users of Android devices on Google Play, but only after the release of Jelly Bean with the built-in Swipe-like Gesture Typing functionality.

While it is known that Swype owner Nuance has a tight relationship with Apple through the Siri's voice recognition technology, a Swype executive has now confirmed that its company has had conversation with Apple over its keyboard technology. Google Play Nearly Matching iOS App Store In Download Volume



Today App Annie published its latest data on mobile app downloads, noting that continued momentum for Android apps has allowed Google Play to nearly match iOS App Store in download volume. However, while Google Play is making significant strides in generating profits for developers from app downloads, the App Store retained its strong lead in monetization, indicating that, in general, iOS device users remain more willing to pay for apps than Android users. Apple Is Facing Patent Infringement Lawsuit Over Siri In China

Samsung Galaxy S 4 Benchmarks at Nearly Twice the Speed of the iPhone 5



Primate Labs has posted benchmarks scores for the new Samsung Galaxy S 4 revealing that the device is nearly twice as fast as the iPhone 5.

I've charted the Geekbench 2 scores for the Samsung Galaxy S4 along with several Android phones, the iPhone 5, and the BlackBerry Z10. If you're not familiar with Geekbench 2, higher scores are better.

Google Now video was accidentally appeared on YouTube



Google Now is available only on Android devices, aimed at giving users “the right information, at the right time", appears on iOS, unless a leaked video is to be believed. Google reportedly released a promo video on YouTube accidentally. The record was quickly removed, but not before an Engadget made a copy of  it.

Google Released First Update To Its Google Maps App For iOS



Today Google updated its Google Maps app for iOS with version 1.1. This is the first update since the company released its standalone app in December after Apple replaced Google’s Maps app with its mapping solution in iOS 6.

The update brings several improvements to Google Maps, including easier searching for local places and integrations with Google Contacts.

Devices With 'Willow Glass' Displays Unlikely To Appear During Next Three Years



Earlier this month The New York Times said that Apple is working on a smart watch with curved display that could make use of Corning’s flexible Willow Glass. Today Bloomberg reported that Corning believes it will likely take at least three years before devices with bendable Willow Glass displays can hit the market.

Pandora limits time of free listening



Streaming music service Pandora will limit the time for listeners to 40 hours of free listening per month, the company announced in a blog post. This decision was taken as a result of the increasing of license fees, which the company must pay to record companies.

Street View App Can Access Google’s Street View From Within iOS 6 Maps



Developers from FutureTap recently released a 99 cent app on the App Store called “Street View” that allows users to access Google Street View from the iOS 6 Maps app.

One of the key features missing in the iOS 6 Maps app was the 360 degree panoramas of the Google's Street View. With the release of Google Maps app for iOS things got better, but there are still several reasons why many people continue using Apple’s Maps app.
