While some customers have only begun receiving shipping notices, someone has already got the device and provided video about it.
It is interesting that Siri section in Settings allows choosing between activating voice-based function by pressing the home button or simply by moving your device to your ear.
Hackers from the Chronic Dev Team recently announced that they have found 5 userland exploits in iOS 5. To us this means that it is very likely that an untethered jailbreak will be available for the upcoming firmware release.
P0sixninja made the announcement at MyGreatFest jailbreak conference held in London, England.
While this is a "record breaking number of exploits found", userland exploits can be easily fixed via a minor software update. The exploits are kept in secret, so hopefully Apple won't fix them before the expected iOS 5 launch next month.
The jailbreak is expected for all devices, including iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad, iPad 2, iPod Touch and even future iPhone 4S and iPhone 5.
MuscleNerd, hacker from DevTeam, has announced via Twitter that a major update to RedSn0w is coming soon.
There will be no need to select an IPSW. Rather than requiring ipsw selection, RedSn0w will now automatically fetch the important pieces directly from Apple (and caches them so that it never needs to re-fetch them again). New version also brings the ability to save and submit SHSH Blobs to Cydia.
Will be pushing out a major redsn0w feature upgrade before my trip to Korea: http://is.gd/PMAdT1 (and look, no IPSW selection button!)
The new version of RedSn0w is expected to be released on Monday.
Check out the screenshots below:
iH8Sn0w released Sn0wBreeze 2.8b7, which adds jailbreak support for the latest iOS 5 beta 7 firmware.
Sn0wBreeze creates custom firmware and allows users to preserve baseband for unlock (ultrasn0w doesn't work with iOS 5 yet). This new version also adds hacktivation and removes UDID developer check. This means that you can try iOS 5 without developer account from Apple.
You can download Sn0wBreeze 2.8b7 for Windows here.
The founder of Jailbreakme.com Comex has said on Twitter that he is joining Apple as an intern. Site JailbreakMe.com greatly facilitates jailbreaking for users. He said about the hiring on
“It's been really, really fun, but it's also been a while and I've been getting bored. So, the week after next I will be starting an internship with Apple”.
iH8Sn0w released Sn0wBreeze 2.8b6, which adds support for the latest iOS 5 beta 6 firmware.
Sn0wBreeze is a quite useful jailbreak utility. It creates custom firmware and allows users to preserve baseband for unlock. This new version also adds hacktivation and removes UDID developer check. This means that you can try iOS 5 without developer account from Apple.

As reported various retailers reducing the price of iPhone 4 expecting the release of the iPhone 5. Rumors suggest that the next-generation smartphone vary quite substantially from an August release to a September release, and AllThingsD expects a late October launch. So the US retailers Radio Shack and Target have both cut the price on the iPhone 4 models. Radio Shack is currently offering the 16GB model for $169.99 and the 32GB for $269.99. Meanwhile Target is now offering the 16GB iPhone 4 for $149.99 and the 32GB model for $249.99. These discounted iPhone 4’s still come with a two-year contract. The standard prices for the iPhone 4 in Radio Shack were $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for the 32GB model.
The iPhone Dev-Team has released RedSn0w 0.9.8b3 which can perform a tethered jailbreak on iOS 4.3.4. This means that you will have to connect your device to a computer and run redsn0w each time you restart.
For the convenience of kernel hackers like @comex and @i0n1c, we have a new redsn0w 0.9.8b3 that supports a TETHERED jailbreak for iOS 4.3.4 on all devices that have 4.3.4 except the iPad2. The vast majority of people will want to stay back at 4.3.3 because that's where the untethered jailbreak is! There are no new features in 4.3.4 - only fixes for jailbreak exploits.
Also, this is a good time to remind everyone (since we're still seeing confusion about this): iPad2 owners with a baseband (3G or CDMA) cannot currently use saved blobs to go back to 4.3.3 once the signing window is closed. This is unlike every other device, so don't be confused! iPad2 owners with basebands should stay away from all updates to maintain your jailbreak!
This jailbreak works with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad 1, iPod Touch 3G and iPod Touch 4G. It does not work with iPad 2.
Famous iPhone hacker Stefan Esser, also known as i0n1c, recently wrote on twitter that we should not expect untether jailbreak for iOS 4.3.4 anytime soon. i0n1c was the one who created untether for iOS 4.3.3 firmware.
Our advice is simple - save your 4.3.3 SHSH keys asap. With these SHSH keys you will be able to restore to iOS 4.3.3 anytime, without - only iOS 4.3.4. Here are tutorials for you.
iH8Sn0w has released a new version of Sn0wBreeze 2.8 b4 with iOS 5.0 beta 3 jailbreak support. Sn0wBreeze is a so-called PwnageTool for Windows, an application that creates a custom ipsw with jailbreak preserving old baseband.
The jailbreak is tethered for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS (new bootrom), iPad, iPod Touch 3G and iPod Touch 4G. Jailbreak is untethered for iPhone 3GS with old bootrom.
You can download Sn0wBreeze 2.8 b4 here.

iOS 5 beta 3 is jailbreakable by RedSn0w 0.9.8 b1. DevTeam hacker MuscleNerd has confirmed that the RedSn0w 0.9.8 b1 jailbreak works on recently released iOS 5 Beta 3. All you have to do is to point it to a downloaded iOS 5 beta 1 firmware ipsw.
Today's 5.0b3 can be jailbroken with last month's redsn0w http://is.gd/6eek4Y (point it at 5.0b1 IPSW..devs only please!)
RedSn0w 0.9.8 b1 jailbreak works on all devices, exect iPad 2. This means you can get a tethered jailbreak on Windows and Mac OS for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G and iPad 1.

As you might know hacker Comex has found a new PDF vulnerability and released JailBreakMe tool that uses it. These were great news. The bad ones is that your iPhone and iPad and iPod Touch is at risk. Bad guys can use the same vulnerability to take control of your device and do whatever they want with it.
Apple will fix it in iOS 4.3.4 firmware some day. Fortunately Comex has already released a patch for his JailbreakMe 3.0 exploit to protect already jailbroken devices from any malicious use of the exploit.
The package called 'PDF Patcher 2' can be downloaded and installed from Cydia. To jailbreak please use our step-by-step instructions.
Hacker Comex has updated JailbreakMe.com site, which might mean that much anticipated iPad 2 jailbreak is on its way.
The website features a list of git commits dating all the way back to August 2010. It looks like Comex has been working on the jailbreak for one year. He didn't specify any dates. We will keep you updated.
Geohot is famous iPhone and Sony Playstation hacker, the creator of blackra1n and limerain jailbreak methods, as well as blacksn0w unlock. Now he works at Facebook.
Joshua Hill (P0sixninja) recently mentioned this fact in an interview.
Geohot started working at Facebook in May and actually announced it on his Facebook account on June 17th:
"Facebook is really an amazing place to work...first hackathon over."
This means that we should not expect any new iPhone jailbreak and unlock utils from him.
Here is an interesting QA session with famous iPhone hacker and jailbreaker p0sixninja. Scroll down to 43th minute to watch:
