iOS 6 vs. iOS 7 User Interface Element Comparison



We already showed you an icon comparison of iOS 6 and iOS 7, but now developer Mpow has put together a comparison of the different UI elements in the operating systems.

Taking a look at the comparisons, you can really see how Apple stripped away a lot of the textures, gradients and gloss from iOS in favor of a more "flat" interface.

Speed Test iOS 6 vs. iOS 7 Beta [Video]



You can watch the testing on the video below. Keep in mind that iOS 7 is first a beta which isn’t yet fully optimized. The results are still pretty close which for all of the improvements seems to be a pretty sweet deal.

Apple Releases iOS 6.1.4 for the iPhone 5 Only



Apple has just released iOS 6.1.4 for the iPhone 5 only that brings an updated audio profile for the speakerphone.

You can download the latest iPhone firmware from here.

This firmware is not jailbreakable yet.

Apple Added ‘Download Later’ Option For Large Purchases In iTunes



According to Macworld, Apple has added a new option for iTunes large media purchases made on both the Mac running iTunes 11 or iOS devices running iOS 6 or later. Now when purchasing media content that includes a large download, such as seasons of TV shows or movies, iTunes will allow users to download the purchased file at a later time. Apple outlined the new feature, which presents users with a dialog box to “download “Later” or Download” now, in a knowledge base article.

P0sixninja will hold back his jailbreak exploits for iOS 7



P0sixninja has revealed that he will not be using his jailbreak exploits to release iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak. He plans to hold them back for iOS 7 or iOS 7.1.

Recently the hacker tweeted that the 'the next jailbreak might be created entirely by me' saying that he had discovered several exploits needed for the new jailbreak.

In an interview to iDesignTimes p0sixninja commented that he will definitely not release jailbreak for iOS 6.x.

P0sixninja Finds Exploits Needed for New iOS 6.1.3 Untethered Jailbreak



P0sixninja says that he has found the exploits necessary to release a new jailbreak. He does not mention it, but it looks like this jailbreak will be for the latest iOS 6.1.3. In the past the hacker contributed to various jailbreak releases in the past including: GreenPois0n, Cdev Reporter, Absinthe, etc.

Well, so far it looks like the next jailbreak might be created entirely by me.

Cydia Сounts 18 Million Jailbroken Devices in Six Weeks



Saurik reports that about 18 million devices were counted by Cydia in the last six weeks, between untethered jailbreak release and iOS 6.1.3 which blocks this jailbreak. According to Forbes:

In the six weeks since evasi0n was released, however, close to 18 million devices have already been jailbroken, according to data from Jay Freeman, the administrator of the Cydia app store for jailbroken devices. He says he’s counted 18.2 million unique devices running iOS 6 visiting Cydia, including 13.8 million iPhones, 3.4 million iPads, and 1.1 million iPod Touches. Those numbers vastly exceed previous jailbreaks such as Jailbreakme 3, a popular hacking tool for iOS released in the summer of 2011 that was used on around 2 million devices, according to a count at the time by creator Nicholas Allegra.

The iOS 6.1.3 Lock Screen Can Still Be Bypassed



Apple recently released iOS 6.1.3 which fixed a lock screen vulnerability; however, it turns out there is yet another one to be fixed.

As demonstrated in the video below, it's possible to get access to the Contacts app and then other areas of the phone including photos by using Voice Dial then ejecting the SIM card.

Sorry, iOS 6.1.3 has a new security flaw, but can be avoided easily. You should disable the "Voice Dial" option if you want to be safe.

Apple TV software has been updated to 5.2.1



Along with updating the iOS 6.1.3, Apple also updated the Apple TV to version 5.2.1. The software contains a number of fixes and redesigned Hulu app.

Apple Releases iOS 6.1.3 With Evasi0n Fix



Apple released iOS 6.1.3 which fixes a lock screen passcode bug and brings improvements to Maps in Japan. It also disables Evasi0n jailbreak.

This update contains improvements and other bug fixes including:
● Fixes a bug that could allow someone to bypass the passcode and access the Phone app
● Improvements to Maps in Japan
