Apple and AMD discuss partnership

amd

According to the sources from Apple Insider, AMD representatives have been seen recently on the meeting with Apple's top brass. The discussion was about the possible partnership between these two organizations as Apple looking forward in bringing AMD's CPUs to workstations and notebooks. The main reason for changing its main processor supplier is probably the try to increase the flexibility and competitive options of Cupertino's company. Another explanation is problems, that were encountered with Intel recently (they include limited availability of recently produced processors and new chipset designs that don't allow using any video chips except its integrated graphics chip).

Apple sells 500,000 iPads and delays international orders

Apple today released the following statement:

Although we have delivered more than 500,000 iPads during its first week, demand is far higher than we predicted and will likely continue to exceed our supply over the next several weeks as more people see and touch an iPad™. We have also taken a large number of pre-orders for iPad 3G models for delivery by the end of April.

Faced with this surprisingly strong US demand, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the international launch of iPad by one month, until the end of May. We will announce international pricing and begin taking online pre-orders on Monday, May 10. We know that many international customers waiting to buy an iPad will be disappointed by this news, but we hope they will be pleased to learn the reason—the iPad is a runaway success in the US thus far.

iPad's are unofficially avaliable in many different countries. However the prices are very-very high (double and even triple of US ones).

iPad Runs Windows 95

Kamagames.com posted another interesting video. Now they've tried to launch Windows 95 on iPad using BOCHS emulator. It looks pretty cool though the OS is very slow. That might be the reason why the Kamagames devs didn't try to install WinME or at least Windows 98.

The main idea of this experiment is that though Windows 95 is very old OS it actually supports mutitasking! Moreover, maybe it is a first step to even bring Flash to the iPad.
