The iPhone Dev-Team released jailbreak utility RedSn0w 0.9.9b6 for both Windows and Mac users. The new version offers full iOS 5 jailbreak support for Windows and fixes Location Services issue for iPhone 3GS devices running the 06.15 baseband. This is still a tethered jailbreak for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 1, iPod Touch 3G and iPod Touch 4G:
We've released version 0.9.9b6 of redsn0w, with both a functional fix and cosmetic fix for iOS5 jailbreakers. For iPhone3GS owners with the 06.15 baseband, this redsn0w eliminates the network crash you saw when using Location Services in iOS5 (in fact, you don't even need to disable Location Services anymore during the initial setup). The cosmetic fix is to the visual countdown you see when going into DFU mode.
It's okay to re-run this redsn0w over an existing device jailbroken at iOS5. Just choose "Jailbreak" again and de-select Cydia (in other words, all the checkboxes will be unchecked). If you are lucky enough to have an old-bootrom iPhone3GS, please pre-select the IPSW first (redsn0w can't yet auto-detect the FW version of your old-bootrom 3GS if it's already been jailbroken).
Just as redsnow 0.9.9b5 the new version supports creating custom firmwares with preserving baseband (modem) version for unlock. Unfortunately right now custom firmware functionality works only with Mac version.
Currently only the Mac version has been made available. Windows version is coming soon. However Windows users can still jailbreak iOS 5 with Redsn0w 0.9.9.b4, - just go to "Extras" -> "Select IPWS" and select your iOS 5 ipsw file (can download here).
Good news for users who need carrier unlock (ultrasn0w or Gevey Sim). With RedSn0w 0.9.9b5 you can update to iOS 5 and preserve the baseband (modem) version for unlock:
The new "Custom IPSW" button on the Extras screen will create a custom IPSW without the baseband update for 4.3.3 or 5.0gm (iPhone3GS and iPhone4 only, for now). Remember not to accidentally restore to the stock IPSW after you create the custom one! The custom one begins with NO_BB_ (for "no baseband").
You must enter "Pwned DFU" mode before trying to use the NO_BB_ IPSW with iTunes (and your hosts file cannot be pointing to Cydia's servers due to the new blob nonce mechanism they're using in iOS5).
We will update our step-by-step tutorials soon.
You can download RedSn0w 0.9.9b5 (Mac) and RedSn0w 0.9.9b4 (Windows) here.
PS: RedSn0w 0.9.9 is a bit different from 0.9.8 version. You can learn more about other new redsn0w 0.9.9 features here.
Today Apple announced that new white iPod Touch 4G will join the iPod family. Pricing still starts at $199 for the 8GB version, $299 for 16GB, and $399 for a 64GB. All will be available in black or white October 12th. There are no hardware changes, just the color.
Today Skype updated its app for iPad as well as version for iPhone and iPod touch. Now the Skype app for iPad has Bluetooth connectivity on iPad 2 and a bugfix for security problems. Also the app can operate both on iPad and iPad 2. The program for iPhone/iPod touch also supports Bluetooth on the fourth-gen iPod touch, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4.
We are receiving more and more questions about JailbreakMe supporting particular iOS version and device. Here is a useful table that shows which firmwares can be jailbroken by JailbreakMe and which are not supported. Take a look:
Sn0wBreeze creates custom firmware and allows users to preserve baseband for unlock (ultrasn0w doesn't work with iOS 5 yet). This new version also adds hacktivation and removes UDID developer check. This means that you can try iOS 5 without developer account from Apple.
You can download Sn0wBreeze 2.8b7 for Windows here.
The iPhone Dev-Team recently released RedSn0w 0.9.8b7 which brings explicit support for a tethered 4.3.5 jailbreak as well as new iOS 5.0b6 iPad 1 jailbreak:
Apple updated the iPad1 iOS5b6 IPSW without changing its version number or filename, so we're releasing redsn0w 0.9.8b7 to handle both the original and changed IPSW. We've also added explicit support for a tethered 4.3.5/4.2.10 jailbreak (instead of pointing at the 4.3.4/4.2.9 IPSWs) and fixed a 4.2.10 problem.
We've released redsn0w 0.9.8b6 to jailbreak iOS5 beta6 (point it directly at the beta6 IPSW).
Two important notes about this version: (1) Please let your device boot normally to IOS5b6 and do a clean shutdown (slide to power off) before jailbreaking.
(2) Boot logos have intentionally been disabled for now, so you'll see a black screen on tethered boots (you can re-enable logos or verbose boot with command-line options if you really want them back).
Due increased sensitivity to abrupt filesystem shutdowns in IOS5b6, it's very important that you do a clean shutdown before running redsn0w.
The iPhone Dev-Team has released RedSn0w 0.9.8b3 which can perform a tethered jailbreak on iOS 4.3.4. This means that you will have to connect your device to a computer and run redsn0w each time you restart.
For the convenience of kernel hackers like @comex and @i0n1c, we have a new redsn0w 0.9.8b3 that supports a TETHERED jailbreak for iOS 4.3.4 on all devices that have 4.3.4 except the iPad2. The vast majority of people will want to stay back at 4.3.3 because that's where the untethered jailbreak is! There are no new features in 4.3.4 - only fixes for jailbreak exploits.
Also, this is a good time to remind everyone (since we're still seeing confusion about this): iPad2 owners with a baseband (3G or CDMA) cannot currently use saved blobs to go back to 4.3.3 once the signing window is closed. This is unlike every other device, so don't be confused! iPad2 owners with basebands should stay away from all updates to maintain your jailbreak!
This jailbreak works with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad 1, iPod Touch 3G and iPod Touch 4G. It does not work with iPad 2.

iOS 5 beta 3has been released recently. It is available only for Apple registered developers. But you can try it too. Remember that you do it at your own risk. Remember your UDID must be registered at Apple in order to activate your device after install.
You can download new iOS 5 beta 3 firmware and iTunes 10.5 beta 3 using the links below:
iH8Sn0w has released a new version of Sn0wBreeze 2.8 b4 with iOS 5.0 beta 3 jailbreak support. Sn0wBreeze is a so-called PwnageTool for Windows, an application that creates a custom ipsw with jailbreak preserving old baseband.
The jailbreak is tethered for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS (new bootrom), iPad, iPod Touch 3G and iPod Touch 4G. Jailbreak is untethered for iPhone 3GS with old bootrom.
