Apple today released iOS 6.1.1 for iPhone 4S users only. This follows reports that a bug in the iOS 6.1 firmware was affecting 3G performance for numerous customers.

According to the release notes, "This update fixes an issue that could impact cellular performance and reliability for iPhone 4S."

You can get the update from Software Update on your device or download the ipsw directly from here.

UPDATE: Apple released iOS 6.1.3, so you can NOT restore to earlier firmware (both original and custom), unless you have saved your SHSH keys. If you are on iOS 6.0-6.1.2 you can use evasi0n to jailbreak.

Today Apple announced that the new 128GB iPad model would go on sale on February 5th with a starting price of $799 – an attractive option for those who consider purchasing Surface Pro tablet when it debut on February 9th. Apple has seeded a new beta of iOS 6.1 to developers for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. It was widely expected that Apple would release either a GM or a fifth beta this weekend since the current fourth beta for 6.1 expires on Monday.

Developers can download the ipsw from the developer center. It should be also available via Software Update shortly.

TechCrunch reports that Intel is going to launch its own set-top box and virtual cable TV service in the immediate future. To avoid licensing issues, Intel has decided to launch the TV service on a city-by-city basis rather than rolling it out nationwide. The report notes:

According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Google is developing its own phone via its recently acquired Motorola Mobility unit.
