Geekbench benchmark suddenly showed that the new MacBook Pros based on the Intel’s latest Haswell processors are actually not as fast as they were expected to be. But the point is that the battery life has been improved - both laptops can work for about 8-9 hours on a single charge.

According to Crittercism (via AllThingsD), applications crash twice as often on the iPhone 5s than on the plastic iPhone 5c or even on the last-year iPhone 5. Surprisingly, this is all due to the flagship’s new 64-bit processor, which debuted in September. The apps running on the 5s have a crash rate of nearly 2%, while those on the iPhone 5 and 5c’s 32-bit chip - of about 1%.

Samsung Will Still Participate in Apple A8 Processor's Production

According to the Korean website Hankyung, Samsung - along with TSMC - will be making chips for Apple’s future devices. Although TSMC is said to become a major supplier of the Apple’s A8 processors with 60-70 percent of the production load, the South Korean company will still have to produce the remaining 30 or 40 percent of chips.

As we know, the iPhone 5s is working on Apple A7 processor - the one manufactured by Samsung.

Despite the fact, that the company from Cupertino has signed a deal with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. earlier this year, it looks like nothing will seriously change. At least in 2014.

Apple Releases New 'Greetings' Ads for the iPhone 5c

The company from Cupertino has released new 'Greetings' ads to promote its plastic iPhone 5c. On the Apple’s official YouTube channel one can watch either the two separate 30-second clips - Greetings and Greetings Too - or the so-called extended cut, which is one-minute long.

As to the plot of the short video, it is rather simple and reminds Apple’s previous ads. People of various nationalities and speaking different languages use the colorful gadget to communicate and express emotions. The ad looks simple, but still it gently prompts you to buy the new gadget. And this, I believe, is what the advertisement should do - prompt, not persuade.

You can watch the Greetings (extended cut) below. Enjoy!

Delays in supply chain to slow iPhone 5S release

According to Digitimes, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is delaying with components supply. Therefore, the launch of the iPhone 5S may be put off and Apple might ship “only 3-4 million units in the third quarter of 2013 compared to 10 million units as originally planned”. It should be noted that a similar report, only lacking exact figures and specifics, was published on July 15th. Besides it is not the first time  Apple CEO Tim Cook admits that the plans of Cupertino company may be put off due to delays in supply-chains.

Mass production of the fingerprint sensors was originally scheduled to begin in May at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and then to be packaged at Xintec, a TSMC subsidiary, the sources indicated. However, the production of the sensors has been delayed due to issues related to integration between iOS 7 and fingerprint chips, as well as a low yield rate at packaging firm Xintec, the sources revealed.

An engineering team composed of engineers from Apple and TSMC has been dispatched to Xintec recently to help ramp up the yield rate for the packaging of fingerprint sensors, revealed the sources, adding that the supply chain will be able to start volume production of fingerprint chips at the end of August.
