A closer look at the Apple iPad ad
During the iPad presentation, Apple CEO Steve Jobs noted that it would offer a better experience than a smartphone and a notebook computer in the following areas:
Apple recently aired iPad ad during the Oscars, which perfectly reflects this. Tuaw analyzed the video based on the on-air time dedicated to a particular function. It showed that a particular focus was on media consumption appeal and differentiation.
About 80% of all 720 frames (30 seconds * 24 fps) of the iPad’s ad showed an app being used. And within this time, the photo app was shown the most (26%), the mail app came in second (22%). iBook app used 20% of time to position the iPad as a perfect eBook reader.
Sony Is Working On iPad competitor
According to Wall Street Journal, Sony is planning to launch a line of products, potential competitors of Apple devices. With the smartphone from Sony a user will be able to download and play Playstation games. Underway are the plans for another device, which will combine e-reader, PSP and netbook. Sony is also planning to create Online Service to distribute television shows, movies, games and music to the devices.
Hopefully, devices from Sony will become a due rival for iPad and other Apple devices. When companies are constantly improving their products this is user who will win in the end.
Grooveshark Released Their App On Cydia
Grooveshark is a web app that allows you to listen to music on-demand through the Internet without any charge (it requires only a Grooveshark VIP subscription for $3/month). The song can be chosen from the gigantic 7-million song catalog.
Grooveshark creators claim it supposed to be released in App Store but it wasn’t because Apple has been “ritually rejecting” the app for “primarily selfish reasons”. TechCrunch reports there were spent months of waiting for Apple approval. After Grooveshark’s patience gave out they decided to release its iPhone application via Cydia.

Time Machine concept for iPhone/iPad
Someone who calls himself Epoc is the author of this new concept of Time Machine integration on the iPhone/iPod Touch.
Time Machine, the utility created by Apple was primarily designed for the Mac. It is intended for the automatic saving of the latest copies of documents, settings, videos, photos, music, etc. you happened to work with. In case you delete something you can always take a step back and restore everything.
The iPhone variant of Time Machine will be a very much welcomed application. Initially it is sure to consume much power and data, but we can expect its further modifications will be very interesting.
MWSF 2010: Algoriddin’s djay 3, Frog Design apps, 4iThumbs, WebIS Informant

Algoriddin’s djay 3 is an excellent app with easy-to-use interface designed to allow you to mix and play music. The price is US 50$ in stores and on the website.
MWSF 2010: SHOWXX projector, MoodAgent, ScreenGuard Privacy, Verbatim drives
Microvision presented its laser pico projector SHOWXX, Moodagent creates a Genius like playlists, ScreenGuardz Privacy app can hide your information from the neighbour and Verbatim presented their new line of usb-drives with the size of a fingernail. Look further for the details.
Laser pico projector SHOWXX designed by Microvision was presented on the MWSF. It has a size of the iPhone and costs US 500$. The picture shown by the device is so small that only one person can see it. Moreover, the battery time is only 2 hours, which is obviously too short. We can only say the technology still needs to be improved so that it could be interesting for customers.
MWSF 2010: MacSpeech Scribe, MusicSkins, Kanex adapter, CarMD
We’re continuing to cover news from the MWSF 2010, and this time the talk will be about MacSpeech Scribe app, MusicSkins accesories, Kanex adapter and CarMD device.
MacSpeech is known for its MacSpeech Dictate program that allows user to speak to Mac and wind up with formatted text. At the MWSF company released MacSpeech Scribe (US 149$), which turns recorded audio into RTF-files (that are readable by any word processor). It doesn’t create text with punctuation and you have to train the program by correcting its mistakes, but with the Nuance engine from the previous app it looks really impressive.
MusicSkins was also present at the MacWorld 2010. This time there were vinyl skins not only for Apple devices, but for any gadgets known (at least they say they add 5-10 devices to their roster per week). Company reps told us the accessories for the iPad are also ready to be printed, but before it’ll go to the market they want to make sure their production will work well and fit correctly to the device. At this moment skins for iPod and iPhone (US 15$) and for the Macbook (US 30$) are available.
MWSF 2010: Capacitive Gloves, Electrorack products, TuneBug Shake, U-Socket
From now on sausages are not the only substitutes for human fingers; Electrorack presented an interesting rack enclosure for Xserves; Shake allows you to listen music without earphones; U-Socket solves a problem of USB-rechargable devices.
As you remember few days ago we wrote about sausages as the best substitutes of human fingers for iPhones. Well now it is not. Two companies at once presented their capacitive capable gloves that allow you to use iPhone even when it’s cold. iTouch Gloves offered high end leather gloves (start with $99.95, on the left side) and Telefingers offered thinner, less stylish and cheaper solution (for only $15, on the right side).
That really looks like oversized Mac Pro, but indeed this is a rack enclosure for Xserves and RAID configuration presented by Electrorack. The latter also offers a variety of other server racking solutions.

MacWorld Expo: The Beginning
MacWorld Expo 2010 started on the Feb, 11. We’ll show you how that day and the MWSF generally started.
Apple is preparing to celebrate the 10 billion downloads in iTunes Music Store
Apple is about to reach another great result: the 10 billion songs sold through iTunes. They set up a similar to the one for the first billion downloads in AppStore. Apple also created a contest with a prize of a $10,000 iTunes gift card.
According to the , participants may make up to 25 entries per day either by purchasing/downloading songs from the iTunes Store or by filling out an entry form on Apple’s web site.
The prize will be awarded for the entry (either through a song download or through the non-purchase online entry) sent immediately following the download of the 9,999,999,999th song. The potential winner will be determined by the order of the entries received. In the event that more than one entrant would be a winner based on the simultaneous timing of entries, one entrant will be randomly selected from those entrants as the winner. Each entrant’s chances of winning are dependent upon the number of eligible entries received.
Apple has periodically offered similar contests in the past, such as its One Billion Song contest in 2006 and a One Billion App contest last year.
SD Card reader for iPhone
ZoomIt is the first SD card reader for the iPhone and iPod Touch. This peripheral together with ZoomIt application gives iPhone users the ability to load photos, music, PowerPoint, PDF and other files directly from SD card.
ZoomIt is a great way to extend iPhone’s storage or simply backup photos during vacation. It will be available in April for $50.

Steve Jobs: iPad to offer 9.99$ e-books, Word support and 140 hours of music
After the iPad presentation on Wednesday Walt Mossberg, The Wall Street Journal journalist, had a conversation with Steve Jobs who revealed interesting information about the new product.
Books for the iPad were rumored to cost between $13 and $15, and Mossberg asked, why customers will purchase books on this price if Amazon charges only $9.99. Jobs answered: “The prices will be the same”.
Later Mossberg inquired Steve whether he can use Pages application to write his review and then send it to his editors in the Microsoft Word format, as his colleagues doesn’t know anything about Pages. Jobs told that the mobile version of Pages allows saving files as Word documents.
The journalist also asked about battery life on the device, and Jobs answered that iPad offers 140 hours of music playback with the screen off or 10 hours of reading. It seems not so much in the comparison with e-books, but Jobs revealed that 10 hours is enough, as nobody reads for 10 hours, and plugging the device or docking it in the end is “not a big deal”.
