Chinese Firm May Supply OLED Screens for Future iPhones





A Chinese firm called BOE Technology Group Co. may soon start supplying Apple with displays for new iPhones. According to Bloomberg, the company is currently building two factories in China that will produce AMOLED displays. Even though Apple has been testing sample displays manufactured by BOE for months, the final decision is yet to come. Both companies are currently in talks.

Only 5.8-inch iPhone 8 to Feature Glass Body – Report



According to the latest report from DigiTimes, only the 5.8-inch OLED iPhone 8 will feature a body made of reinforced glass with a stainless steel frame. The 4.7-inch iPhone 7s will have an aluminum back panel similar to the one its predecessor had. The design of the 5.5-inch handset hasn’t yet been confirmed, supply chain insiders claim.

Apple Sold 6 Million Apple Watch Units in Q4 2016, Became Market Leader



According to the latest report from a research firm Canalys, in the fourth quarter of 2016 Apple shipped 6 million Apple Watch units. The revenue generated by the sales accounted for $2.6 billion, which makes Tim Cook’s words about record sales and strong demand for the device truth. The sales grew 12% year-over-year, researchers claim.

Another Galaxy S8 Image Leaks Online



Update: 9to5Google reports that the image was photoshopped and thus is fake.

Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S8 next month, which means that the handset is ready or nearly ready. New image that was posted on the Chinese social network Weibo gives us a closer look at the upcoming iPhone 8 rival. The photo seems to be genuine, it shows us the bottom side of the new South Korean flagship.

A well-known Italian developer Luca Todesco has confirmed that he is planning to release a jailbreak tool compatible with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus sometime in the future. However, this is not a priority for him, and he is busy with other tasks right now, so we shouldn't expect the yalu update soon.

Samsung to Build New AMOLED Panel Factory in Vietnam



According to the latest report from the Korean newspaper Chosun Daily Newspaper (via DigiTimes), Samsung is planning to expand the AMOLED production to the Bac Ninh Province in Vietnam. Currently, the South Korean tech giant has one facility that manufactures AMOLED panels located in the Thai Nguyen Province, but later this year, the company may set up a new factory to catch up with the demand for new displays that grows steadily each month.

iPhone 6 Plus Bursts into Flames Again



Another iPhone caught fire while being plugged in at night. The incident took place in Palm Harbor, Florida on Tuesday. Amanda Bentz’s iPhone 6 Plus started making a hissing sound and then the battery burst into flames. Luckily, the woman woke up and asked her husband to put out the fire, so nobody was hurt that night.

New MacBooks to Get Additional ARM Chip



Apple is working on a new ARM-chip that will be added to the next-generation MacBook. According to Bloomberg, this new chip will work simultaneously with the main processor and be responsible for low-power mode features of the laptop. This is a bit similar to the chip that makes the Touch Bar work on the 2016 MacBook Pro.

Wistron to Become Main iPhone Supplier in India



According to the latest report from DigiTimes, Wistron will become the main 2017 iPhone manufacturer in India. Foxconn and other vendors will become back up manufacturers. Apple will turn to them if demand for the new handset increases. To prepare for the demand, Wistron has increased the production capacity at its factories in India and China, reporters claim.
