iOS and Android Account for 96.3% Smartphone Market Share in Q4 2014



According to the latest report from a research firm called IDC, the combined smartphone market share of iOS and Android accounted for 96.3% in the fourth quarter. Apple’s share managed to reach 19.7% and the share of Android equalled to 76.6%. Just for you to compare: n the last quarter of 2013, Apple’s iOS grabbed 17.5% of the smartphone market and Google’s Android occupied 78.2%. As we see, iOS products become more and more popular, making users change their Android devices to iPhones. The guys from Cupertino managed to sell as many as 74.5 million iPhone units in the fourth quarter. The shipments of all Android smartphones combined accounted for 289.1 million units.

Apple Releases Second iOS 8.3 Beta to Developers



Apart from releasing the second beta of OS X Yosemite 10.10.3, the guys from Cupertino have recently seeded the second beta of iOS 8.3 with Xcode 6.3 beta 2 to developers. The release of this version of Apple’s mobile operating system comes about two weeks after the release of the very first iOS 8.3 beta, which contained several new features, namely, a brand new emoji picker, the support of wireless CarPlay connectivity, Google’s two-step verification as well as Apple Pay support of UnionPay in China.

Apple to Release First iOS Public Beta in March - Rumors



According to the latest reports released by people familiar with the matter, Apple is currently thinking about launching a public beta program for iOS. In such a way, the guys from Cupertino hope to fix more bugs and make their mobile operating system more stable and efficient. Apple Working on iOS 8.4 with Support of New Streaming Music Service?



As I’ve already told you, the guys from Cupertino are currently working on iOS 8.2, iOS 8.3 and iOS 9. As it turns out, there’s one more iOS version in the work. This version is codenamed Copper and people familiar with the matter believe it will be released sometime after the official launch of the long-awaited Apple Watch in April. As to the new features of the mobile operating system, they remain unknown. The only thing we know is that Apple is currently planning to add the support of the revamped Beats-based streaming music service to iOS 8.4.

Average Selling Price of the iPhone Is $687, Price of Android Devices - $254



According to what reliable insiders write, the average selling price of the iPhone grew to enormous $687 last quarter. Well, that is not strange, especially if to keep in mind that Apple has always been making the most luxurious and the most expensive handsets in the world. What is interesting and a bit shocking is the fact that the average price of the Android smartphone is $254.
