The antenna problems of the iPhone 4 are still there. More and more people come across it, and in this video you’ll see the result of one simple touch that completely stops web-page loading.

The problem with the iPhone is not just about it not displaying the signal bars but actually about the real data loss. Quite simple: you leave your iPhone on the table and it loads the web-pages at a normal speed. You touch the problematic area, and the web-page stops loading.

Since the fault is in the design – the antenna is located all around the phone, and it’s quite hard to avoid it unless you have a case for it – at some point the problem is sure to affect everyone, unless you are very close to a cell tower.

While the iPhone is a great invention, at least 40% of the buyers have admitted that they are experiencing this problem, and in the UK the figure is as high as 93%. Apple hasn’t provided any solution yet, except the advice to buy a case or to hold the device in a different way.

A new version of the Google Docs Viewer has been launched by the company for the iPad, Android and iPhone to let you view PDF, doc, docx and ppt file uploaded to your documents list without needing to download the file itself.

With our mobile viewer you can switch quickly between pages and pan/zoom within a page. On your iPhone and iPad, you can pinch to zoom in or out. You can try it out by going to docs.google.com on your Android-powered device, iPad or iPhone and select any document in these formats that you’ve previously uploaded.

For those who are impatiently waiting for their pre-ordered iPhone 4 to arrive or are going to get one soon, Apple has released the user guide for iOS 4 and iPhone 4 (available here in PDF). The guide is 243 pages long and can also be found in a version for iPhone accessible via mobile version of Safari. It consists of 28 chapters and reveals some information on certain features of iOS 4 related to iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4.

The guide covers a great number of topics about iPhone 4, such as its physical features, setup and various software installed by default. There’s a special section on the App Store, iTunes Store and the free iBooks application. In the user guide you’ll also find more information on the iPhone’s Nike + iPod capabilities.

Recently KTS S.C. has announced the release of their app for iPod Touch and iPhone named Kiosko.net 1.0. It is a visual daily press directory that helps you to access the world’s largest news web-resources wherever you are. Opera Mini has been submitted to the AppStore. The browsing speed is impressive, since Opera is sending traffic through its servers which compresses webpages. The iPhone picks up the compressed content and displays it at rates which Opera believes to be up to five times as fast as Mobile Safari. This technology works nice especially on low speed networks.

Opera had finally demonstrated new Opera Mini for the iPhone at the Mobile World Congress.

In comparison to the default iPhone browser it looks pretty quick – Opera Mini loads the New York Times like 5x faster than its rival. Its main disadvantage is that it lacks the all-important feature pinch-to-zoom, and the only alternative is a method of double-tapping the webpages. Generally, the iPhone owners will find that the usual silky smooth scrolling through favorite webpages and responsive interface are maintained at the very best.

Unlike other platforms, the iPhone variant actually remembers the website you happened to browse last – the feature that will obviously be favored by a legion of iPhone admirers.

Company says as soon as beta tag is removed the browser will be submitted for approval. And it is not obvious whether Apple approve it or not, because it maintains the option of rejecting any app that “duplicates functionality” of the apps Apple builds into the iPhone. Opera co-founder Jon von Tetzchner has his own point of view on this:

“Opera Mini is the world’s most popualr mobile browser and users on the iPhone deserve a choice.”

WordPress for iPhone has been updated to v2.2. The major addition is the ability to reply, edit, and highlight comments.

Manage your WordPress blog from your iPhone or iPod touch. With WordPress for iPhone, you can moderate comments and create or edit posts and pages. All you need is a WordPress.com blog or a self-hosted blog running WordPress 2.7 or higher.

Giles Turnbull from the CultOfMac noticed one interesting thing in the video of Apple’s official iPad announcement event.

At 1:04 of the video (the picture above) Phil Schiller demonstrates the new iWork for iPad. On the picture we can see a Keynote and visible in the left corner of the screen button called “My Presentations”. When he moves on to Pages, “My Documents” can be seen clearly. And it really reminds of Windows 95!

Still it is not clear, is this just a Pages feature or maybe a system-wide folder that can be used by other apps. And eventually, “My Documents” may only be a working title with a possibility to be renamed when iWork for iPad will actually be released.

Newsworthy events are often targeted by hi-tech criminals. The iPad wasn’t the exception.

On the last week terms like “Apple” and “iPad” were among the most popular on different search sites and services because of the Steve Jobs’ presentation. That caused hi-tech scammers to tune their booby-trapped webpages to show up near the top of search results with that terms. So when the user enters such words as “Apple iPad rumor” or “Apple iPad size”, he has a probability to go to the sites that will peddle rogue security software to him.

Moreover, some sites were tuned in such way they could define user’s OS and choose a different type of attacking it. Other sites send users to web pages that pose Google’s search engine and manipulate the results people see. The only way to stay protected from these scammers is to be attentive to strange sites and links, to have an up to date security software installed and the latest OS system patches.

After the iPad presentation on Wednesday Walt Mossberg, The Wall Street Journal journalist, had a conversation with Steve Jobs who revealed interesting information about the new product.

Books for the iPad were rumored to cost between $13 and $15, and Mossberg asked, why customers will purchase books on this price if Amazon charges only $9.99. Jobs answered: “The prices will be the same”.

Later Mossberg inquired Steve whether he can use Pages application to write his review and then send it to his editors in the Microsoft Word format, as his colleagues doesn’t know anything about Pages. Jobs told that the mobile version of Pages allows saving files as Word documents.

The journalist also asked about battery life on the device, and Jobs answered that iPad offers 140 hours of music playback with the screen off or 10 hours of reading. It seems not so much in the comparison with e-books, but Jobs revealed that 10 hours is enough, as nobody reads for 10 hours, and plugging the device or docking it in the end is “not a big deal”.

Here’s the first video preview of CoughMultitasking, the application from Steven Througton-Smith that will allow us to switch between different applications, leveraging the multitasking.

The application is only in early stages of development, but we already see 4 thumbnails per page and multiple pages.

A side by side video comparison of the iPhone 3GS and the Zune HD has been posted by Domenico Panacea from Macitynet.it. The video compares the two displays both inside and outside. Panacea also tests load times for web pages and applications, and even demonstrates the video out quality of both devices.
