Media sharing with on-hold callers

Everyone knows that being on hold is quite often and it is not always a pleasant experience.  You can be entertained by music, ads or just hear nothing and enjoy the silence. Apple guesses that it is a much better idea to look through photos from the recipient or listen to your favorite music.
On Tuesday Apple obtained a patent which enables the company to replace the usual on-hold message with content you want to share with people who are calling you. The patent describes how the system works - the way you open the menu, chose the options and send them to the recipient until you can answer the call.

Some More Lower Cost iPhone Photos

Here’s another suggestion on how would the new lower-cost iPhone look like. This time it’s Martin Hajek, who made some renderings and 3D models of something that would be a very nice device if released. Apart from the colorful pictures showing the device itself, the author went further and re-designed the Apple homepage. And I must admit it looks great.

High-Quality Video and Some Photos of the New iPhone

Each new day brings some news on what would the new lower-cost iPhone look like. And today it’s Techdy’s turn to astonish us with a high-quality video of something very similar to the plastic iPhone. In fact, the authors of all that stuff claim that the phone shown on the shot is created after they got their hands on legitimate front and back panels of the Apple’s new creation. However, the device you’ll see on a video below is just another iPhone copy running Andriod Jelly Bean. It would be available soon, so if you like you may try to make a pre-order.

Apple's Poster to Commemorate the Fifth AppStore Birthday

Looks like Apple has hired a new guy responsible for all kinds of graphics and the way Apple gadgets look. At first he paints new ‘cheap’ iPhones red, green and yellow, then completely redesigns iOS 7 and after that persuades the executives to register a new FaceTime logo, which he likes immensely, as a trademark.

Well, there’re probably some other reasons for all that to happen, of course, but it really seems that Apple is currently centered primarily on the appearance – in addition to the things mentioned above, it has released a new poster commemorating the fifth anniversary of AppStore, Tim Bradshaw of Financial Times reports.

Apple's New Microsoft 365 and Google Docs Rival

Rejoice all those who don’t like neither Google Docs, nor Microsoft Office 365 as a few days ago their new rival was born. Announced in June at WWDC, this rival is a purely new cloud-based iWork version. Well, actually, this is still only a beta and at the moment it is available only for Apple developers. However, what that means is that the relatively short-term Google-Microsoft domination in the sphere of cloud editing tools might be soon over.

Here’s the link for the developers that haven’t yet tried the new product and some screenshots for people that don’t have a developer account. Take a look at those photos.

The surreal beauty of some Apple Maps glitches

Peder Norrby, founder of the Swedish computer graphics company Trapdoor, has created a Flickr collection of some artistic and spectacular effects created by automated attempts to map 2D imagery onto 3D topology models in Apple Maps.

Of course, Apple Maps are not alone in some of the more … interesting results. Google Maps also have similar effects caused by the same issue: automated integration of 2D and 3D data without human vetting.

Take a look at the beautiful photos:

Leaked Schematics for the iPad 5 Reveal Its New Dimensions

French site Nowhereelse.fr posted leaked schematics for the upcoming fifth generation iPad. Now we know new width, height, and thickness.

As you can see in the photos below the thickness is expressly stated as 7.9mm. Unfortunately, the other photo is less clear; however, Nowhereelse compared it to previous schematic plans for the iPad and calculated a width of 178.5mm and a height of 232mm. That's a reduction of 1.5mm in thickness, 9.3 mm in length, and 7.3mm in width.
