Apple Releases First iOS 8.4 Beta with All-New Music App





Apple on Tuesday seeded the first iOS 8.4 beta to developers for testing. The release took place just five days after the official release of iOS 8.3 to users worldwide. The most-recent version of Apple’s mobile operating system can boast of several minor improvements and one easily-noticeable feature, which is a revamped Music app, which is not only working faster, but also has a completely new design.

New Beats Music Based Online Radio to Be Announced at WWDC



Earlier this year I told you that the guys from Cupertino were planning to launch a revamped music streaming service based on both Beats Music and iTunes Radio functionality. According to the latest report from people familiar with the matter, the debut of the service won’t take place at the “Spring Forward” media event, scheduled for March 9th. Instead, insiders claim Apple will unveil its new creation at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. The service will use the technologies Apple obtained after acquiring Beats Music and will have a monthly fee of $7.99.

Spotify App is Updated With a New Way to Browse Music and Other Features



Spotify app for iOS was updated with a bunch of new features, namely, a new way to browse music, new languages (Thai, Turkish, Brazilian Portuguese, Malay and Greek) and bug fixes. As usual, you may either listen to music for free or upgrade to Spotify Premium and get unlimited access to the Spotify library. The premium account also gives you the opportunity to sync your favorite playlists to your iPhone - to have all the music you like close at hand.

Apple Announces Major iTunes Update Coming Next Month

During yesterday’s special media event Apple unveiled a radically redesigned version of iTunes for Mac and PC featuring a "dramatically simpler" interface. The updated iTunes will receive iCloud integration to show all your media content saved in Apple's cloud storage service and save your position in movies or TV shows automatically so that you can pick up where you left off on another device.

We created iTunes because we love music and we’re going back to our roots with an incredibly clean design that keeps your music at the forefront,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services. “The new iTunes works seamlessly with iCloud, always keeping your entire library at your fingertips, and we’re adding great new features that make listening to your music more fun.

Khan Academy Releases iPad App With Access To Large Collection Of Educational Videos

Even though there are several unofficial apps available in the App Store allowing you to access content found in the Khan Academy, the education portal has released an official app for iPad. The app is available for free at App Store and it provides access to more than 2,700 educational videos covering many different subjects from finance and history, to science and K-12 math.

Giving way to government regulators, Apple last year changed its policy related to third-party stores and allowed subscriptions. This opened the way for music apps from Shazam and Spotify that have recently appeared on the iOS platfrorm. Currently another major music service is going to compete with iTunes.

Apple To Pay $8M For Violating iPod Playlist Patent

According to Bloomberg report, based on the information from the lawyer for plaintiff Personal Audio, a jury found that Apple had indeed violated two patents relating to downloadable playlists for iPods. Coby Electronics, Sirius XM Radio and Archos were also included in the suit, but they resolve the dispute out of the court last year.
