Apple rumored to revise backlight for iPad update
Apple is rumored to prepare a minor iPad update to meet the holiday season. An unverified report claims that the company plans to return to a one-LED backlight module solution instead of the two-LED design used in the current iPad to reduce the heat output. Switching back to the one LED module would not affect "luminosity and clarity" of the iPad display.

Apple telling suppliers to prep for mass production of smaller iPad - WSJ
Echoing Bloomber’s report about a new, smaller iPad model, the Wall Street Journal claims that Apple told its component suppliers this week to prepare for mass production of such a device.
Citing anonymous sources, The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday that Apple's Asian component suppliers are preparing for mass production of the smaller iPad in September. The sources expect that the rumored device would indeed feature the 8-inch screen.
Apple Has Removed SMS Spam Application From App Store
Today Russian security company Kaspersky Lab that they had been notified about an app available in Google Play store (for Android) and Apple’s App Store that was quietly gathering data from user’s address book and sending it to the remote servers. Then the developer’s servers were sending SMS spam messages to contacts from the address book advertising the app, with the “From” field being filled with the mobile phone number of the original user.

Apple Is Going To Release ‘iPad Mini’ With 7.85-inch IGZO Display Later This Year
Rumors about a new Apple’s tablet called iPad mini have been spreading for some time now, with many reports indicating that Apple plans to launch the new 7.85-inch iPad mini later this year.
Now Chinese site MyDrivers.com () that Apple will indeed launch the new 7.85-inch iPad this year. It’s no secret that Apple aggressively attacks any company involved with mobile OS Android, including filing lots of patent suits against such companies as Samsung and HTC. One of the biggest victories for Apple came last week as the company won preliminary injunctions against Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Apple Wins Preliminary Injunction Against U.S. Sales of Samsung Galaxy Nexus
Just several days after Apple won a preliminary injunction prohibiting U.S. sales of Galaxy Tab tablet, news agency Reuters that on Friday the same judge has granted a preliminary injunction that would ban sales of another Samsung’s product, Galaxy Nexus smartphone. Judge Koh said in her ruling:
"Apple has made a clear showing that, in the absence of a preliminary injunction, it is likely to lose substantial market share in the smartphone market and to lose substantial downstream sales of future smartphone purchases and tag-along products".
The new injunction is much more important victory for Apple than the injunction against Galaxy Tab sales, as evidenced by the bond in the amount of $95 million that Apple posted in order for decision to come into effect. The bond money would be paid to Samsung should the injunction be overturned by the court later.
Apple experiencing battery issues in development of next iPhone
An article at the Chinese news website Sina.com discovered by analyst Brian White with Topeka Capital Markets reports that only 30 percent of the battery volumes produced currently meet Apple's standards. One of the Apple’s key suppliers confirmed that report and noted that suppliers might have troubles providing batteries for the next iPhone that could meet Apple’s standards. Google admits Chrome bug responsible for crashing MacBook Airs
Shortly after release of the updated MacBook Airs, a number of users reported that their machines were frequently crashing. Gizmodo noted this week that the issue was caused by the Chrome browser. One Genius technician said that the problem was "the specific combination of Intel HD 4000 chip + flash + Chrome." Apple Is Woking On Major Overhaul Of iTunes
Bloomberg , citing people familiar with the matter, that Apple is prepping major changes to iTunes that will be released by the end of 2012. The changes are intended to improve how people find content and how they access materials that they already own on their Apple devices. Bloomberg said that music sharing and iCloud file integration will be heavily featured in the revamped iTunes. Music sharing is most likely to happen through Facebook and Twitter, with which Apple has partnered for sharing content within Mountain Lion and iOS 6.

Buzzfeed reports that an unnamed Apple employee said that a future version of Apple's iOS could employ unique graphical user interface features that use input from a mobile device's ambient light sensor to cast shadows on app icons thus creating the illusion of a three-dimensional workspace and bringing more realism to the mobile operating system.

Apple to invest $1B in Nevada data center, business facilities
Reno Gazette Journal has reported that Apple plans to invest $1 billion over the next ten years into its Reno, NV project. According to online postings from city and county officials, the project will include a data center near Sparks, NV to support iCloud capabilities, as well as separately-located business and purchasing facilities.
Retina display image retention reported by new MacBook Pro owners
Some early users of the new MacBook Pro with Retina Display have reported that their new laptops are experiencing image persistence issues with the high-resolution screens, though the problem is not believed to be widespread.
