Apple Receives More Money From iTunes And Accessories Than Other Companies From Phones



According to analysis by Asymco of Apple’s revenue breakdowns, Apple received more money from accessories and iTunes sales than all other companies, except for Samsung, received from phone sales over the last quarter.

Apple Told Reseller That New Mac Pro Will Arrive In Spring 2013



France Systems, Apple reseller in France, sent out newsletter to its customers informing them that Apple will halt Mac Pro sales on March 1st, 2013 due to new regulatory requirements in EU.

As reported by both MacGeneration and Mac4Ever, the reseller also points out in the newsletter that Apple told them a new Mac Pro will arrive in Spring of this year. Translation:

Apple Began Offering 128 GB iPad In Online Store



Following its announcement last week, today Apple began offering the new 128 GB iPad models on the Apple online store with shipping times for the new model being quoted at 1-3 business days for majority of countries. In the United States, shipping times for 128 GB Wi-Fi + Cellular iPad are currently listed at 3-5 business for all three carriers.

In Q4 2012 Android And iOS Captured Record 92% Of Global Smartphone Market



According to the Strategy Analytics’ latest research measuring global smartphone OS shipments for the fourth quarter of 2012, Android and iOS together represented 92% of all shipments. Both operating systems were able to considerably increase their market shares over Q3, with global smartphone shipments over the year reaching a record 700.1 million units.

In China Apple Sees The Highest Growth, Revenue Is Up 67%



During today’s 1Q 2013 earnings call, Peter Oppenheimer said that Apple focused on creating a new operating segment for Greater China, which includes Hong Kong, Taiwan and Mainland China. He said:

"We have established a new operating segment for China, given the contribution of that region to our business".

Apple Announced Best Quarterly Results In Q1 2013



Today Apple announced financial results for the first fiscal quarter of 2013. For this quarter, Apple posted net quarterly profit of $13.1 billion, revenue of $54.5 billion and $13.81 per diluted share compared to net profit of $13.06 billion, revenue of $46.33 billion and $13.87 per diluted share in the first quarter of 2012. Apple’s quarterly revenue and profit were both all-time records, but analyst Philip Elmer-Dewitt had predicted even slightly higher results.

Apple Is Investing $3M To Open Its First Retail Location In Indonesia



NZWeek reports (via TNW) that Apple is planning to offer direct online sales in Indonesia and to open up its first brick-and-mortar store in the capital city, Jakarta. Today the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) in Indonesia announced that it has approved the application filed by Apple to open up a online shop in the country. Also the report claimed that Apple is going to invest 2-3 million U.S. dollars to open its first retail location in Jakarta.

LG Bumped Apple To 3rd Place In US Handset Market



Recently the iPhone have captured a record 53 percent of the smartphone market in the U.S, but when it comes to its second place in the handset market (feature phones and smartphones combined), a new report said LG moved Apple to third place during December thanks to strong sales of its highly popular Optimus G.

How And Why Steve Jobs Bought Lala



A former Color employee Aubrey Johnson shares a story about Apple's acquisitions of Lala and Color, which both were founded by Bill Nguyen.

Lala's music was streamed over the Internet instead of stored locally. The service allowed users to listen to a collection of more than 7 million titles as a stream over the Internet – much like Spotify and Pandora today. Users could also buy and download songs usually for a lower price than Apple’s iTunes was offering.

AT&T previously announces the results of iPhone sales in the fourth quarter of 2012
