Apple Working on Better iPhone and iPad Displays at Secret Taiwan Plant





According to the latest report from Bloomberg reporters, Apple may be currently working on new thinner and brighter displays for the next generations for its smartphones and tablets at a secret Taiwan-based factory. The reporters claim the company has opened a special laboratory in Longtan with at least 50 employees focusing their attention on making the iPhone and iPad display thinner and more energy-efficient. To achieve this goal, the engineers are experimenting with organic light-emitting diodes.

Samsung Galaxy S7 to Feature Pressure-Sensitive Display and Other New Features



According to the latest report from The Wall Street Journal, both Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge will feature a pressure-sensitive display similar to the one iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have. Moreover, new flagship devices may be equipped with new USB-C posts supporting fast charging as well as better cameras optimized for low-light photography. On top of that, the South Korean tech giant is reportedly planning to add a retina scanner to the next generation of its premium smartphones. In terms of design, both handsets are expected to resemble the Galaxy S6.

Ming-Chi Kuo Confirms Rumors About Early-2016 Launch of New 4-inch iPhone



KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has recently confirmed earlier reports from other reliable insiders and claimed Apple is planning to release a 4-inch iPhone similar to the iPhone 5s in terms of design in early 2016. Unlike other sources, however, Kuo believes the new handset will be equipped with an efficient A9 processor manufactured by Samsung and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), not the A8X chip. Other details about the upcoming gadget include NFC, metal body with at least two or three color options, same camera as in the iPhone 5s and a price tag of $400-500.

Latest survey conducted by Consumer Reports among 58,000 laptop owners who purchased their machines between 2010 and 2015 has revealed that Apple laptops are the most reliable devices on the market. Moreover, MacBooks are less likely to require repairs in the course of 3 to 5 years if to compare with rivals from other vendors. Both Air and Pro MacBook lineups turned out to be extremely reliable and durable.

iPhones May Soon Become Capable of Detecting Touches While Wearing Gloves



According to the latest patent filing published earlier this week by the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO), Apple might be working on a technology that would allow iPhones to detect touch input performed while wearing gloves. Currently, using iPhones in winter is quite a tricky and inconvenient task as the displays of these devices, as well as of iPads and iPod touch units, don’t respond to users wearing gloves made of fabric, leather or any other material. The patent application is entitled “Glove Touch Detection” and it was filed back in 2014.

Apple to Switch to OLED iPhone Displays in 2018 - Report



Apple is reportedly planning to start using OLED displays in iPhones in 2018. Such rumor has been shared by a Japanese website Nikkei. As noted by the reporters, the company has already begun notifying its suppliers about the switch to a new technology so that they can adjust their production lines or find new partners. Apple has been using LCD screens in its smartphones since the release of the very first iPhone in 2007.

Apple’s Global Smartphone Market Share Grows, Android Remains Top Platform



According to the latest figures from Gartner analysts, Apple’s market share on global smartphone market grew 0.6% year-over-year to as many as 13.1% in the third quarter of 2015 ending in September. Apple Remains Top US Smartphone Manufacturer, LG Sees Substantial Growth - Analysts



According to the latest report from a research firm called comScore, Apple remained the top smartphone manufacturer in the United States of America in the third calendar quarter of this year. Even though Apple’s share fell from 44.1% in June to 43.6% in September, this result allowed the Cupertino-based company to continue being a leader of the market. Samsung also saw a decrease in the number of users, however, the South Korean tech giant managed to get the second place in the rating. The only company, which demonstrated growth in the number of users was LG. It came in the third spot.

According to the latest report from a research firm Canalys, Apple managed to sell 7 million Apple Watch units to customers worldwide in the first two quarters of availability. We all know that Apple is expected to release the next-generation iPhone next year, possibly in September. IDC Posts Report on Global Smartphone Sales in Q3 2015 [Chart]



According to the latest numbers from a research firm called IDC, Samsung and Apple continue to dominate on the global smartphone market. Surprisingly enough, Chinese vendor Huawei comes closer and closer to the leaders demonstrating a 60.9% year-over-year market share growth as well as a substantial increase in the number of handsets shipped to customers worldwide.

As can be seen in the chart below, Samsung is a leader of the global smartphone market with 23.8% market share and 84.5 million handsets sold in the third quarter of this year. Apple occupies the second place with 13.5% share and 48 million iPhones sold over the last months. Huawei’s market share is equal to 7.5% thanks to strong demand and 26.5 million handsets shipped to customers in the third quarter.
