Apple Releases iOS 8.0.1, Pulls It Back and Announces iOS 8.0.2 Release





Apple on Wednesday released iOS 8.0.1 to users worldwide, but then pulled the update back as it contained a wide number of bugs affecting cellular service and Touch ID fingerprint sensors on many iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus units. Within few hours after the unpleasant incident, the guys from Cupertino released a support document, where told that the next update, which is iOS 8.0.2, is currently in the works and that it will be released as soon as possible. Apart from that, Apple gave detailed instructions as to how to reinstall iOS 8 via iTunes. I believe these instructions will be helpful for those who installed yesterday's glitchy firmware version.

Microsoft Releases Two New Siri vs. Cortana Ads [Video]



Microsoft has recently released two new ads mocking Apple's virtual assistant called Siri. The first is called Lost and describes the ability of Microsoft's virtual assistant to warn users about coming late to important meetings, parties etc. using recent traffic data. The second commercial is called Remind Me and it tells us about Cortana's ability to remind users about the people-related tasks. For example, when the user is talking with somebody on a phone, Cortana can remind to congratulate with this person with birthday (if this person is actually celebrating his or her birthday on that day).

Apple to Release iOS 8.0.1 with Numerous Fixes - Rumor



According to the latest rumors, Apple is currently working on iOS 8.0.1, which will bring fixes for such features as Phone, Keyboard, Safari, Sharing and VPN on the iPhone and iPad. Whether there will be any fixes for Wi-FI and battery life issues discovered a couple of days ago is still a question without an answer. Nevertheless, we know that the update for iOS 8 is in the works and will be released very soon.

It Is Possible to Bend iPhone 6 Plus with Bare Hands [Video]



Yesterday I told you that it is possible to bend the iPhone 6 Plus while carrying it in the pocket of pants all the time. Today, a guy named Lou (from Unbox Therapy) decided to prove or refute the rumors and took his own iPhone 6 Plus to the ultimate bend test. As it turned out, it was a bad idea.

40% of Apple's A8 Chips Are Manufactured by Samsung - Rumor



Though Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company is the main supplier of the advanced 20-nanometer A8 chips used in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Samsung reportedly continues to produce about 40% of high-end processors. As revealed by IHS, the manufacturing cost of the new SoC is $20, which is $3 more than the manufacturing cost of the A7 processor.

iOS 8 Adoption Rate Reaches 46% Week After Release



It has been nearly a week since Apple released its iOS 8 to users worldwide. Six days after the release, the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system is installed on 46% of all the iOS devices connected to the App Store. Well, at least this is what the guys from Cupertino say.

Apple Releases New 'Huge' and 'Cameras' iPhone Ads



The guys from Cupertino today released two new iPhone ads called "Huge" and "Cameras". As you may guess from the names of the commercials, they focus on the larger size of Apple's newly-released iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus as well as on the cameras of the devices. The ads feature Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake and are available below, so you may take a look.

The first commercial is called "Huge" and shows us Fallon and Timberlake talking about the size of the smartphones and their functionality.

Apple Announces Record-Breaking First Weekend iPhone Sales



Apple on Monday announced that the sales of its 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus in the opening weekend topped ten million units. That is a new record for the guys from Cupertino. Apple managed to break the last year’s record of nine million iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c units sold during the first three days. What an impressive result!

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Fail Drop Tests



Immediately after the start of sales of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in several countries, first drop and crash tests began to appear on the Internet. The bad news is that both handsets are not doing well in these ultimate durability tests. While they somehow manage to remain intact when dropped on the side and back, they have no chances when dropped on the face. The smaller iPhone seems to demonstrate slightly better results, but in general, both handsets can’t be called the strongest devices on the market. Siri Now Recognizes Music Using Shazam



You have probably heard the rumor, according to which Siri was supposed to “learn” to identify music tracks using Shazam functionality. Well, looks like the guys from Cupertino indeed integrated such a useful feature into their virtual assistant and it is now available for all the iOS 8 users.
