Apple to Ship 80 Million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Units by End of This Year?





According to the latest report from DigiTimes, Apple is currently planning to ship as many as 80 million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus units by the end of this year. This is a very ambitious task, I must admit. To accomplish it, the guys from Cupertino have reportedly asked their Asian suppliers and other manufacturing partners to ramp up the production of components for new handsets.

Apple Releases iOS 8 GM to Developers for Testing



As you probably know, Apple’s iOS 8 will become available for users worldwide on September 17th. Ahead of the release for public, the guys from Cupertino have released a final beta version of iOS to developers for testing. The Gold Master seed contains several bug fixes and stability improvements that influence the efficiency of the new mobile operating system.

Apple Posts Full Video of Tuesday's Media Event on Its Website



Just several hours after the iPhone 6 and Apple Watch presentation, the guys from Cupertino have posted the full video of the media event to their official website. I think that later it will become available on YouTube, but now you can watch it only at the link.

In case you missed the whole thing, Apple on Tuesday announced two new handsets called iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Apart from that, the company executives finally showed us the Apple Watch and the widely-rumored payments system called Apple Pay.

iOS 8 will be released on September 17th



iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus needs new iOS 8 that is on the way as well. Apple just confirmed the next-gen operating system will arrive next week, on September 17th. It will be free as usual. The compartible device list includes every iPhone from the 4s on, every iPad starting with the iPad 2, and the fifth-generation iPod touch.

Apple Officially Releases 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6



Just like we expected, Apple has just unveiled its long-anticipated 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6. The larger handset, by the way, got the name iPhone 6 Plus. Apple Granted Patent for Method of Hardening Sapphire Screens



Apple on Thursday was granted a patent for a technology of hardening the sapphire structure. The patent application was published on the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office official website. The patent is entitled "Sapphire property modification through ion implantation" and it describes a method of adding ions in a sapphire structure so that it becomes stronger and prevents this material from cracking. The advantage of the new technology is that it allows to make the sapphire stronger without using the chemicals.

Apple's Suppliers Are Ramping up Production of Components for iPad Air 2



According to the latest report from DigiTimes, Apple's suppliers are currently ramping up the production of components for the next-generation 9.7-inch iPad Air that is expected to be officially unveiled this fall alongside the Retina iPad mini. The new tablet will boast of faster A8 processor, improved Touch ID fingerprint sensor and some other hardware and software enhancements. Reliable insiders also believe that the tablet will become thinner. At the same time, the size and the display resolution of the device will reportedly remain unchanged.
