Apple has just seeded the third iOS 9.3 beta to developers for testing. This is probably the last but one build for developers released until the alleged debut of iOS 9.3 in March alongside the new 4-inch iPhone 5SE, iPad Air 3 and the updated Apple Watch. The list of improvements and enhancements includes bug fixes and refinements to the features added in previous betas. These features include the Night Shift mode, secure Notes, updated News and CarPlay. iOS 9.3 Beta 2 brought a separate Control Center toggle for Night Shift, which is present in the third beta, so looks like the change is permanent.
As it was already reported, Apple may launch the iPad Air 3 in March. The device will likely feature a faster processor, 4GB of RAM, LED flash on the back panel as well as four speakers at the top and bottom. Several images showing something similar to the case for the upcoming gadget confirm the rumors about four integrated speakers and rear facing LED flash. The leaked photos first published by usually-reliable French website Nowhereelse.fr are available below, take a look.
As we already told you, Apple is expected to unveil the iPad Air 3 in March. Up until today, the tech specs of the upcoming device remained unknown, however, thanks to DigiTimes reporters and their insiders, now we know that the tablet may get a 4K display and up to 4GB of RAM. Together with a faster processor, this may make the new iPad a great choice for people who need a powerful, yet pretty small and convenient device for work and entertainment. The production of the tablet will reportedly begin in the second quarter of 2016. Such firms as General Interface Solution and TPK Holding will become the component suppliers.
Reliable sources have once again confirmed that the iPad Air 3 will be officially unveiled at the media event in March. Alongside the new 9.7-inch tablet, Apple is expected to unveil the smaller 4-inch iPhone 5SE as well as the updated bands for the Apple Watch. Today’s rumor corroborates previous reports from trusted insiders, so I guess we can believe it.
According to the leaked schematics showing something similar to the iPad Air 3 design, the tablet will feature a rear LED flash as well as four speakers at the top and bottom of its aluminum body. The image, which is available below, was obtained by Nowhereelse.fr from a reliable source who was correct in the past. I believe the device shown on the leaked schematics is indeed the next-generation iPad Air since it looks similar to the devices of the current lineup.
Apple has slightly increased the prices of several iPhone and iPad models in Germany to comply with the changes to copyright laws that took effect on January 1st. The smartphones sold through Apple’s official online store in this country now cost 5 euros more compared with the prices for December 31st, 2015 and the tablets cost 8 euros more.
According to the latest report from a research firm called Flurry Analytics, Apple continued to dominate the holiday sales in 2015. 49.1% of new handsets purchased and activated during the holiday period turned out to be iPhones.
According to the latest report from usually-reliable KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple may release the next-generation iPad, iPad Air 3, in the first half of 2016. Unlike the iPhone 6s that is equipped with a pressure-sensitive display, the tablet will get a simple 9.7-inch screen like the one used in earlier models. The reason for lack of 3D Touch technology support is reportedly connected with production issues, the expert claims.
According to the latest report from Bloomberg reporters, Apple may be currently working on new thinner and brighter displays for the next generations for its smartphones and tablets at a secret Taiwan-based factory. The reporters claim the company has opened a special laboratory in Longtan with at least 50 employees focusing their attention on making the iPhone and iPad display thinner and more energy-efficient. To achieve this goal, the engineers are experimenting with organic light-emitting diodes.
According to the latest report shared by Fudzilla.com, Apple is currently working on a new GPU for its portable devices. The development of the new hardware component has begun several years ago, sources claim, so it may be at its final stage at the moment.
As it was already mentioned on our website, Apple on Tuesday officially released iOS 9.2 to users worldwide. The latest update features a number of important bug fixes and improvements for Safari, Mail and Apple Music and is available for all users of compatible iPhones, iPads and iPod touch units. One can upgrade to iOS 9.2 either through iTunes for Mac or Windows, or use the OTA update, which should be available through the Settings app.
Apart from the enhancements mentioned in our previous post, it turns out that Apple has also fixed the issue causing iPad Pro unresponsiveness after charging. Previously, a special support page suggested that the company was investigating the issue, while now that same page indicates that “updating your iPad Pro to iOS 9.2 or later” should fix everything.
According to the latest report from a market research firm IDC, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro may stop the decline in the iPad sales. Even though the researchers admit that the global tablet market will continue to decline, Apple may actually improve the position of the iPad on this market and even sell more tablets than in 2014. The reason for this is quite simple: the iPad Pro is a large tablet that can be used with a detachable keyboard. It is a good replacement of the laptop for photographers, designers, artists and all those who need an effective tool for work. iPad market share growth, however, will not be long-term, analysts add. In 2017, Apple will once again see a decline.
There’s a big number of people using jailbroken iPhones and iPads. It’s quite obvious that there’re lots of benefits one can enjoy while using a jailbroken device and probably one of the most valuable is the ability to tweak the settings of the gadget and improve it in order to fit the needs of the owner.
Using the traditional iOS bright color theme may be quite inconvenient and in some cases even dangerous for people who have poor eyesight. So far, the only possible way of minimizing the negative impact of bright colors was enabling the grayscale mode in the Accessibility settings, but now, thanks to the jailbreak tweak called Nightmode9 it is possible to turn off the lights and make your device in something similar to the night mode available in certain applications for reading.
According to the latest document shared by New York lawyers, Apple’s iOS is much more secure than Google’s Android. In particular, they have found out that Google can remotely bypass the passcode, reset it and obtain access to the data stored on the device running Android 4.4 or earlier on demand of law enforcement agency. Currently, 74.1% of all devices are running an older Android version. Those who use handsets and tablets with Android 5.0 or higher on board, are safe as these devices use full disk encryption and thus are not vulnerable.
