Latest iPad 2 Cases Show Two New Ports

ipad 2 ports

The newest next-generation iPad case designs from Chinese accessory manufacturers show off two additional openings that haven't been seen before. The images above and below reveal a left-upper slot and a top-middle slot. A recent report from Engadget claimed that the new iPad will have an SD card slot. Apple expected to pack ultrafast dual core SGX543 graphics into iPad 2 and iPhone 5

CPU

With the rumors of a 2048x1536 high resolution screen for the iPad 2, one question that has emerged is what graphics processing unit (GPU) can adequately power the device. AppleInsider claims that the new iPad and iPhone 5 will use a dual-core SGX543 GPU from Imagination Technologies. The company will not only be upgrading its video core, but also going to multiple cores. The most likely configuration of Apple's next custom chip is reportedly the SGX543MP2, which pairs two SGX543 cores to work as one, offering around four times the capability of the previous A4 in graphics and video tasks. We had previously revealed that the latest iOS 4.3 beta SDK had drivers for the new SGX543 GPU, so it should be no surprise that it is the most likely contender to be the next GPU for the iPad.

The Future: Thought-Controlled iPad

Technically, this custom EEG headset pairs with a thought-controlling framework that has been added to the popular iPad game Zen Bound 2 game, letting users control the wooden shapes on screen with their brainwaves. Now the real question is: are you willing to put a headset on to control stuff with your brain? Doesn’t it look a little bit, well, weird?

Next Generation iPhones Referenced in iOS 4.3

iOS4.3. code

The latest iOS 4.3 build contains model references to not yet released iPhone and iPad models indicated in the code as:

iPad2,1
iPad2,2
iPad2,3
iPhone4,1
iPhone4,2

The first generation iPad carries a model number of "iPad1,1", the current iPhone 4 is 3,1 for AT&T and 3,2 for Verizon. These new designations likely represent the next generation iPad and iPhone. Perhaps, the second digit represents hardware differences between models - such as a Verizon iPhone and AT&T iPhone. We’re thinking maybe China is getting a new iPhone.  Or maybe the magical white iPhone has something different to it or maybe that Sprint event on Feb 7th is for a WiMAX . The iPad is also believed to be coming to both Verizon and AT&T, so that may explain at least a few of the different model numbers.

Commercial negotiations between Apple and Verizon took one day

It became known that both companies agreed to trade "inside information" about their upcoming services and products. An extensive testing of iPhone 4 became possible due to CDMA towers, which were installed at Apple's campus in Cupertino. That allowed to avoid network issues, while similar problems have became a public relations concern for AT&T.
