iPhone 6s and 6s Plus Battery Life Varies 2-3% Irrespective of TSMC or Samsung Chip Inside

As it was reported earlier this month, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are equipped with A9 chips manufactured by either Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), or Samsung. After some benchmarks and research, several reliable sources claimed there’s a noticeable difference in performance and battery life between the handsets with different processors inside. To make things clear, Apple released a statement explaining how different processors may impact the battery life of new handsets. As it turns out, the battery life of Apple’s iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus may vary within 2-3% range. The company also claimed that the benchmarks don’t represent the real-world results as they put a heavy burden on the processor during a long period of time, which quite unrealistic.

Verizon is likely to owe Apple $14 Billion

A recent marketing research discovered that Verizon may end up owing Apple 14 billion dollars for selling less iPhones than it committed to do in 2013.

According to Craig Moffett, a telecommunications analyst, in 2010 Verizon signed an agreement with Apple to sell iPhones worth 23.5 billion dollars during 2013 alone.  However, the figures of 2012 show that Verizon failed to fulfill the commitment by two times. This will undoubtedly influence the dividends, as the 12-1 billion means 4-5 dollars of each share.

Google and Apple seems to be improving their relationship. It is proved by Google's chairman Eric Schmidt, who says : "These are two proud, well-run, different companies."

Apple to Eliminate Retail Box Software Inventory

no retail boxes

MacRumors has reported that Apple is planning to eliminate boxed software, which only takes up retail space that could be used for higher profit items such as iPad or iPhone accessories. Apple is going to distribute their software through the Mac App Store, strongly believing that the future of software sales will be digital distribution. But how Apple will deal with software which is not available through the Mac App Store? It's not clear now. Though, the idea of total elimination of boxed software also sounds unreal. Perhaps Apple will replace such software with USB software installers.  It may make more sense; nevertheless, such replacement doesn’t appear to be quick.

If iPad Supported Flash, How Would it Look Like?

flash_site

Scoopertino.com had recently posted another "unreal news" report, where it is revealed that Apple made a Flash-compatible version of iPad. It's called iPad XL and made with a support of Honda. Just insert your iPad into the XL's side-mounted pocket and that will make it possible "to run the flashiest and most tasteless Flash sites on earth” as quite as never before - only at 96 decibel.

Full story can be found here.

Unreal Engine 3 Ported to iPod Touch and iPhone 3GS

unreal unreal-2

The Unreal Engine 3 is a modern 3D gaming engine which powers games such as Bioshock, Gears of War and Unreal Tournament 3.

Anandtech spent some time with Mark Rein (Epic Games) last week and was shown a demo of the Unreal Engine 3 running on a 3rd Generation iPod Touch. The demo included a flythrough as well as a playable level from Unreal Tournament.

The game engine requires OpenGL 2.0 so this will restrict the game to 3rd generation iPod Touches and iPhone 3GSs only. Epic is planning on making the engine available to licensees at some point, opening the door eventually to Unreal-powered iPhone games. Epic tells Anand we're going to see Unreal running on another mobile platform at CES.

Let's watch the video demo:
