Apple has ordered a large quantity of LED flash for the future iPhone’s camera

Unfortunately there is no flash on the iPhone’s camera. The picture quality and the resulting video are really  good, but when it’s dark you just do not see anything on photos. According to rumors, in fact, Apple is looking to buy from a specialized manufacturer a large amount of LED flash to be mounted close to the camera probably in the next version of iPhone.

These Items, according to a company in Amsterdam, are usually combined with 5 megapixel sensors. Hopefully we will soon see a new version of iPhone with 5-megapixel camera and LED flash.

Apple Approves Video Recording App for the iPhone 2G/3G

Apple has approved iVideoCamera, an application which lets you record video on any iPhone including the iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G. Now you don’t need a 3GS to record and share videos with your friends and family. Works with firmware 3.1 OS installed and includes:

Ability to save to your camera roll or “Photos” and share via:

  • FaceBook
  • YouTube
  • Vimeo
  • Twitter and more coming soon

Limitations:

  • The iPhone can only capture about 3 frames per second
  • Videos are limited to about 1 minute in length
  • Resolution is low: 160×213

Apple Approves Video Recording App for the iPhone 2G/3G (ivideocamera 200x300) Apple Approves Video Recording App for the iPhone 2G/3G (ivideocamera 2 200x300) Apple Approves Video Recording App for the iPhone 2G/3G (ivideocamera 3 200x300)

You can purchase iVideoCamera in App Store for $0.99 (link).

This is a great step forward, because Apple did not allow such apps to be in Appstore before. The quality of the recorded video is quite low, however it might be improved in the future. Could the acceptance of iVideoCamera open the door for Cycorder, popular video recording app that can be installed via Cydia?

Video Recording, voice control and compass in future iPhone

Video Recording, voice control and compass in future iPhone (cameraui)

It looks like the iPhone will record video this summer. Buried in the latest iPhone 3.0 beta is this screenshot of what’s obviously the iPhone’s still dormant video recording interface. Besides the honking red record button in the center, there’s a toggle to switch between the still camera and video recording. Inside the configuration files where the screen was discovered were mentions of an “auto-focus camera,” “magnetometer” (digital compass), and “Voice Control.”
