Twitter Releases New Music App For Web And iOS





Today the company announced the release of the new music service called Twitter #music. The app integrates several existing music services and is currently available on the App Store and on the web.

“The songs on Twitter #music currently come from three sources: iTunes, Spotify or Rdio. By default, you will hear previews from iTunes when exploring music in the app. Subscribers to Rdio and Spotify can log in to their accounts to enjoy full tracks that are available in those respective catalogs. We will continue to explore and add other music service providers”.

The app is based around existing Twitter services and takes advantage of Twitter trends to detect emerging and popular songs and artist. The app has the Suggested tab showing artists you might like to listen to based on the artists you follow on Twitter and who they follow and the #NowPlaying tab showing songs your friends are tweeting about or listening to.

Twitter #music is currently available on the App Store as a free download with support for users in Ireland, the US, New Zealand, Canada, the UK and Australia.
