Apple released information on self-publishing for those authors who would like to sell their writings in iBookStore.

So the works must adhere to these criteria:

1. It must have a 13-digit ISBN.
2. The format is ePub and the writing must be validated against epubcheck 1.0.5.
3. The work must not contain unmanifested files.
4. The author must have
   • a US Tax ID
   • a valid iTunes Store account with a credit card on file
   • Intel-based Mac with OS X 10.5 running or later.

If you are not familiar with paragraphs 1-3, Apple proposes to connect with iBookStore aggregator ^[1].

When all of the requirements are followed, Apple's online agreement immediately allows selling your book in the iBookstore, and you can choose its price and which countries it will be available in.

If you're interesting in promoting your book, note that the customer base will be much larger as soon as iPhone OS 4.0 will be released with iBooks app installed.
