Rumors: Apple Is Interested In Taking Virgin’s Prime Location In Paris
Interior of Virgin Store on Champs-Élysées
French newspaper Le Figaro reports (via Business Insider) that Virgin is going to vacate its retail outlet on Champs-Élysées in Paris and Apple is one of the main candidates said to be interesting in occupying the spot. The Virgin store covers nearly 75,000 square feet, with about 50,000 square feet dedicated to the sales floor.
Currently, Apple’s largest retail locations at Covent Garden and Regent Street in London offer about 25,000 square feet, and while Apple would likely opt to rent only a part of the Virgin’s space, the company would have an opportunity to build its largest retail outlet in a prominent location.
Also Hardmac reports that earlier this week Apple CEO Tim Cook visited Paris for unknown reason. Although there is no evidence that his presence in Paris is connected with the Virgin store, but some people speculate that he may have visited the town to personally examine the site amid other business matters.
