iPhone 5 And 4S Topped The List Of Smartphone Shipments In 4Q 2012
In November, research company Strategy Analytics that Samsung's Galaxy S III had become the best-selling smartphone worldwide in the third quarter of last year, taking advantage of iPhone 4S decreased sales ahead of the iPhone 5 launch.
The firm’s latest research shows that Apple easily retook the title for the fourth quarter of 2012 with the iPhone 5 shipments reaching 27.4 million units for 12,6 percent of the market.
The iPhone 4S shipments also surpassed those of the Galaxy S III as the previous-generation iPhone saw sales growth after Apple cut pricing.
“Apple’s iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S together accounted for 1 in 5 of all smartphones shipped worldwide in Q4 2012. This was an impressive performance, given the iPhone portfolio’s premium pricing”.
The leapfrog game between Samsung and Apple will likely continue when Samsung releases its new smartphone Galaxy S4 that is expected on March 14.
