New OS X 10.8.5 Release Is Around the Corner



A new version of OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 is said to be released in the coming days. According to the unidentified sources, the so-called “Supplemental Update” is already being tested by Apple - that means that very soon it will reach the end-users. Apple is working large 13" iPad [Photos]



New rumors from the Chinese United Daily News claims that Apple is working with Quanta on a larger iPad. Macrumors report:

Quanta Computer is an Apple supplier responsible for Apple’s current MacBook Airs and an unusual choice for tablet production as those devices are currently produced by suppliers like Foxconn and Pegatron. The report claims, however, that Quanta is aiming to diversify.

This summer WSJ reported that Apple was asking to see prototypes of an iPad measuring slightly less than 13-inches diagonally.

iMac discounts before Haswell processor update



Great discounts are now offered by retailers on custom iMac configurations. The level of stocks is expected to fall in reparation for the Intel Haswell processor.

For instance, B&H on Wednesday evening slashed the price of 15 different custom iMac configurations by as much as $150, several of which had not previously been discounted from Apple's suggested retail price. Many of those same configurations were previously available from other resellers, but have not been restocked alongside other Macs for several weeks, according to historical data from the Apple Price Guide.

It is also stated that big shopping malls such as Best Buy, Amazon, and MacMall are offering a  $100-$150 discount on standard retail configurations.

Steve Jobs сonsidered leaving Apple pro market



Ken Segall, author of Insanely Simple and the creative director of the Think Different ad campaign says that Steve Jobs considered killing Apple's professional line of products.

According to Segall, Apple is not supporting professional users. Mac Pro hasn't been updated in years as well as Aperture, the 17-inch MacBook Pro has been discontinued and the update Final Cut Pro did not leave up to user's expectations. Thus t seems that Apple will farewell the pro market one day.

I hope you’re sitting down for this, but Steve Jobs did in fact once consider that very option. This was back in the days when iMac had established itself as a global bestseller. During one of the agency’s regular meetings with Steve, he shared that he was considering killing the pro products. His rationale was as you might expect: consumer products have an unlimited upside, while pro products are aimed at a niche market that eats up major resources.

Apple May Shift iMac Production from Quanta to Pegatron



According to the latest rumors, Apple is going to change its main iMac supplier. Digitimes reports, that the company from Cupertino is currently thinking about shifting its iMac and probably MacBook Air and MacBook Pro production from Quanta to Pegatron.
